The Vice President of Resource Development, under the limited supervision of the CEO or delegate, serves as the lead fundraising officer charged with raising $5 million in annual operating support, $15M in capital support, and growing the overall donor portfolio for the organization.
ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties & Responsibilities:
Leadership - Provides exceptional & results-based leadership management coordination for the Club’s individual and institutional fundraising efforts and will drive acquisition and retention for all contributed revenue. Serves as a role model of the Club’s mission, vision, values, and organizational culture.
Strategic Direction & Planning- Devises and implements a multi-year comprehensive campaign to fund key initiatives and general operations.
Set campaign and annual fundraising goals in collaboration with CEO.Develop & execute plans to increase support from all philanthropic sources.Provide regular reports on financials, fundraising activities and benchmarking metrics to CEO, Executive Team, and BoardResource Development - Obtains adequate financial support and resources to meet operating and capital needs, with an effort to create reserves and legacy giving.
Seeks a balance of resources protecting the organization from being overly reliant on one source. Develops, maintains & leads implementation of Annual Development Plan. Plan includes:
Individual, Foundation and Corporate GivingCapital Campaigns Stewardship of current donorsLarge Events netting Manages a personal portfolio of donors and prospects with high levels of capacity and inclination. Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward donors of all levels.Board Development -Assist the CEO and Board in recruiting and developing effective Board Members who actively govern while ensuring there are sufficient resources to meet the Mission and related strategies. Lead & staff key board committees as assigned. Manage all processes, tools & communication for successful board engagement, recruitment and assessment.
Work closely with the CEO & Board Executive Committee to identify and recruit new board members, and engage board members with the development process through their advocacy and leveraging their personal networks.Lead efforts to recruit & engage advisory board members in key communities.Marketing & Public Relations - Builds brand recognition in Bay Area by developing, maintaining & leading implementation of annual Marketing plan, including:
Brand voice, talking points, facts and documents. Club’s internal and external message (Teachable Point of View)Relationships with local media outlets and influencers for high agency coverage (including earned media & advertising)Lead all aspects of mail, email, social media and website campaignsStakeholder Engagement-
Commits to ongoing prospect identification through analysis of donor database, external philanthropic sources and identify donors with greater capacity to support The Club's funding prioritiesLead and manage the development team to personally engage in solicitation and stewardship activitiesServes as a voice for the organization and speaks credibly and persuasively about the The Club’s mission, values and vision.Staff Management-Fosters a dynamic Development Team and leads them in designing and implementing a comprehensive development plan to exceed the goals of the strategic vision and annual budget.

Four-year college degree from an accredited college. Master's Degree preferred.Minimum of 8 years of experience preferred in the executive management, development and operation of a Boys & Girls Club (or similar organization), including board and fund development; demonstrated ability to manage budgets and control expenses.Demonstrated ability to close million-dollar gifts.Computer & Equipment Skills
Full, in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.A minimum of 5 years of experience leading donor database use.A minimum of 3 years working with SharePoint.Full, in-depth knowledge of digital marketing tools like Constant Contact, Facebook, Instagram, etc.Ability to quickly learn new computer programs.Other Skills
