We are seeking an experienced, credit-minded, business development-focused individual to join the Western Alliance Bank Specialized Mortgage Services (‘SMS’) Team. This position is primarily focused on certain project management roles spanning across the SMS Sales, Credit and Processing Teams, including 1.) the development and management of the Bank’s Syndication and Participation within SMS with a primary focus on Mortgage Servicing Rights (“MSRs”) facilities and 2.) the development and management of the Bank’s Bankruptcy Remote SPV structure to reduce the risk weighting for certain SMS facilities. Both projects will include working with the SMS Sales, Credit, and Processing Teams to actively manage the portfolio and helping to create and monitor a platform for SMS to effectively manage these debt facilities.The SMS Project Manager is responsible for the development and management of the Bank’s Syndication and Participation of Mortgage Servicing Rights (“MSRs”) facilities, including:
Soliciting and negotiating terms with the Sales Team to develop and deploy the Bank’s economic strategy, as well as assist with the creation of borrower tear sheets and presentations for potential participating banks.Helping to maintain and monitor the pipeline of deals across the Sales Team.Assisting the Credit Team with underwriting these counterparties and transactions to ensure accuracy to deal terms and timely follow-up with clients, as well as maintaining the external share file sites for syndicate/participant lenders.Coordinating with the Processing Team and the Bank’s outside legal counsel on loan closings, including reviewing legal documents, negotiating business points, and corresponding with the client, the syndicates/participants, the Agencies and their respective outside counsels.Working with the Bank’s Corporate Finance Group and centralized Syndication Desk for timely and accurate fundings.Defining, monitoring, and tracking KPIs and developing concrete point of view insights on our risk exposure of the portfolio to present to leadership.Also responsible for the development and management of the Bank’s Bankruptcy Remote SPV structure to reduce the risk weighting for certain SMS facilities, including:
Coordinating with consultants, internal and external legal counsel to develop a deal structure and document set to achieve lower risk weighting on Warehouse Facilities.Lead the effort working with the Sales and Credit Teams to identify the Borrowers that make the most sense to move to said structure; educate them on the structure; negotiate any terms necessary to affect the change; and lead the efforts to implement the new structure.Exploring the ability to utilize the developed structure across the other different debt facilities within the SMS team.The SMS Project Manager role will also include ad hoc projects that arise in the regular course of business.
What you'll need:
Bachelor’s degree required. MBA or advances degree in Finance preferred. 10 years of experience in banking, financial services, accounting, or technology preferred. Equivalent combination of experience and education acceptable.
5 years of experience in Product Management/Development background strongly preferred, with the ability to concurrently manage and assess broad strategies and execute against multiple priorities.
Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Detail-oriented, with ability to influence, collaborate and communicate across all levels and lines of business, internal resources and external vendors.
Ability to work in a very rapid, ever changing, ambiguous environment. Demonstrate strong analytical skills and ability to handle ambiguous and complex situations.
Advanced skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; word processing, spreadsheet software programs required for Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Solid understanding of Accounting Practices and the standard receivables process corporations use to collect their payments is strongly preferred.
