About this opportunity
MillerKnoll is looking for a Vice President of Wholesale to join our Global Retail organization. As a Vice President of Wholesale, you will develop and drive the global wholesale strategy for MillerKnoll Retail portfolio of wholesale brands which include Herman Miller, Knoll and Design Within Reach. You will have P&L accountability for the global wholesale businesses which includes our MillerKnoll wholesale associates and verified licensed agents. Will be critical to analyze, drive and maximize stable growth with our wholesale partners. By providing strategic leadership to the wholesale organization as well as to key cross-functional partners, this role will deliver profitable results in a way that is aligned with each brand's strategy. This will require an ability to understand and protect the integrity of our brands while taking thoughtful risks to drive the business forward. This position requires a seasoned, strategic leader who will proactively drive the business through customer insights, marketplace knowledge and working within a matrixed and global organization.
Responsibilities
Create, manage and execute a comprehensive strategy to maximize sales and ensure profitability
Protect and build the retail wholesale brands through growth strategies, increasing sales in existing wholesale doors and identifying new wholesale partner opportunities.
Collaborate with cross functional partners to improve and drive performance. Not limited to, operations for service and quality, marketing and creative partners to improve in-store displays and branded collateral, finance for proper planning and forecasting as well as merchandising for global and regional assortment needs.
Develop and lead a team of global managers, sellers and licensed agents overseeing partnerships in each a designated region.
Create people strategies including organizational structure, attract and hire strong talent, create succession plans and lead an engaged team.
Guide the team in building strong, brand-approved, sales training for onsite meetings with wholesale partners’ retail associates.
Oversee and negotiate sales agreements for new and existing accounts.
Work in partnership with the retail leadership team and other cross-functional partners to align Wholesale strategies with overall Retail and MillerKnoll strategies.
Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives
Requirements
15+ years of proven experience leading wholesale on a global scale
Ability to develop short to long term operational plans (e.g. 3-5) years in support of overall wholesale strategy
Prior experience with P+L responsibility, proven ability to deliver measurable financial results.
An established network within the retail and sales industry
Exceptional people leadership skills; responsible for coaching and developing team members
Expert-level knowledge of furniture and the home furnishings landscape
Successful experience working, and thriving, in a matrix organizational structure
Adept at collaborating and influencing cross functionally
Expert negotiating skills with the ability to challenge the status quo
Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills
High level of personal integrity and business ethics
Willingness to take initiative and accept accountability with a strong sense of ownership over your work
Embrace an entrepreneurial mindset
Able to develop constructive and effective relationships with direct report team and cross-functional partners; able to maintain credibility and presence within the broader business.
Strong retail math acumen, including elements of markup, margin planning, open to buy, inventory productivity measures, assortment planning.
Strong communication and negotiation skills
Multi language skills preferred.
Proven ability to operate both at high level and dive into details
Multi language skills preferred.
International and domestic travel required +50% of time
