ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Vice President of Compliance and Quality ensures the agency delivers high-quality services while adhering to County, State, and Federal regulations. This role oversees the agency-wide Quality Improvement and Compliance Plans, including HIPAA, incident management, and staff training. They help investigate and resolve incidents affecting care quality and provide guidance on regulatory policies. Additionally, they collaborate on implementing an electronic record-keeping system. This position supports the Chief Compliance & Quality Officer in achieving the agency's goals.
Responsibilities:
+ Ensure the safety, well-being, and rights of individuals by preventing abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
+ Oversee incident reporting, investigations, and compliance with State and Federal regulations.
+ Act as the administrative liaison for the Incident Review Committee and ensure proper documentation.
+ Support the Chief Compliance & Quality Officer in monitoring corporate compliance, policies, and investigations.
+ Chair the agency-wide QA/CQI Committee to enhance quality assurance and risk management.
+ Assist in developing and overseeing policies for protected health information (HIPAA compliance).
+ Conduct investigations into compliance issues, incidents, and HIPAA violations, preparing detailed reports.
+ Supervise staff, provide training on compliance topics, and manage the Learning Management System.
+ Lead the implementation and oversight of an electronic records system in collaboration with IT.
+ Oversee the Staff Education and Training Department to ensure quality orientation and ongoing employee training.
+ Participate in agency committees, meetings, and training while maintaining confidentiality and compliance.
Qualifications:
Any combination equivalent to education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills.
+ Bachelor's Degree in a field of human services, social work or related field. References and work history demonstrating high ethical standards and reputation for integrity.
+ Comprehensive knowledge of State and Federal regulations governing residential and human services for people with developmental disabilities. Experience with regulatory issues and face-to-face contact with staff of regulatory agencies.
+ Minimum of five-years' experience in the health care industry or related field.
+ Must have at least 1-year supervisory experience.
+ OPWDD experience preferred.
+ Combination of education and experience which, in the judgement of the employer, equals above standards.
+ Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams.
+ Excellent communication, presentation, writing, and organizational skills.
+ Skilled in problem-solving, decision-making, and handling complex issues under pressure.
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office, database programs, and video conferencing tools like Teams and Webex.
+ Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, with the ability to travel between sites and drive agency vehicles.
+ Valid NYS Driver's License
