Vice President - Dealer Sales

The VP Residential Dealer Sales is responsible for leading and directing the sales team to achieve short and long-range strategic objectives through successful planning and execution of sales strategies for the Residential Dealer Sales Channel. The VP Sales is responsible for the entire range of sales planning and development, sales promotion, and sales activities. The role will work closely with other departments, such as marketing and product development, to ensure alignment with company goals and objectives. The VP Sales will also drive market input back to the organization to improve positioning with programs, product development, and end user support to Generac customers across energy technology products and solutions. In addition, this role will provide strategic direction to the broader Dealer Sales team in support of new product and service introduction for our dealer network to integrate into their business model. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, leadership, and operation expertise to oversee sales growth, strategies, and performance.
**Major Responsibilities**
**30%:** Sales Strategy Development and Execution - Develop and implement the overall sales strategy to meet revenue targets, increase gross profit, and expand market share. Align sales strategies with company objectives and market dynamics, adjusting as necessary to maintain competitiveness. Provide strategic direction and education to the field sales organization and dealer partners related to new, integrated products and services. Monitor and report on dealer adoption or “uptake” rate. Analyze market trends, customer and end consumer needs, and competitor activities to refine sales approaches. Stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and competitive landscapes. Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, clients, and partners. Engage in high-level negotiations and close national sales agreements to ensure long-term business success.
**30%:** Revenue Growth and Profitability - Identify new sales opportunities and target markets to drive revenue growth. Oversee the development and execution of sales forecasts and budgets. Implement effective sales processes and methodologies to maximize profitability. Develop annual sales budgets and forecasts, ensuring alignment with financial goals. Monitor sales expenses to ensure cost-effectiveness and maximize return on investment.
**20%:** Cross-Functional Collaboration - Work closely with marketing, product, and operations teams to ensure a unified approach to market penetration and customer acquisition. Provide feedback to product teams on customer preferences and market trends to inform product development.
**20%:** Leadership and Team Management - Lead, mentor, and manage a high performing sales team, including sales directors, managers, and individual contributors. Establish clear goals and KPIs for the sales team, ensuring performance is aligned with company expectations. Provide coaching and training to enhance team capabilities and foster a collaborative, results-driven culture. Monitor and evaluate sales performance metrics and implement corrective actions when necessary. Use CRM tools and analytics to track sales pipeline, conversion rates, and team performance. Provide regular reports to executive leadership on sales performance, challenges, and opportunities.
**Other Duties as assigned and the following:**
+ Establishes and maintains critical industry contacts representing the company to key customers.
+ Plans for and oversees sales meetings, trade shows and hosts site-visits for key business partners.
+ Incorporates Generac's customer focused values and concepts of quality into the determination, communication, review and continuous improvement of the customer support functions and planning process.
+ Conducts monthly operational reviews on key customer support issues, performance reports, and competitive pricing and promotion analysis.
+ Provides strategic and operational input to Product Development and Engineering, controls budgets for responsible areas, and ensures that customer goals are met.
**Minimum Job Requirements**
**Education**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or related degree.
**Work Experience**
+ Minimum of 10 years of progressively increasing sales management and client relationship experience, including leading sales teams.
+ Previous experience in a manufacturing environment with technical product experience.
**Knowledge / Skills / Abilities**
+ Ability to travel as required up to 50%. Mainly domestic travel, but some international travel may be needed.
+ Deep knowledge of sales analytics, CRM systems, and performance management tools.
+ Account plan development skills and abilities.
+ Business planning, budgeting, and P&L knowledge and skills.

**Work Experience**
+ 12+ years experience developing business / client relationships and executing critical growth-oriented projects.
+ 5 years in a VP sales/business development leadership position with a proven track record of significant growth achievement.
+ Proven success in developing and fostering business relationships within partner networks.
+ Prior experience in a manufacturing environment.
