The Vice President Finance is a senior executive responsible for overseeing and managing the organization’s financial operations and strategies. This role is crucial in ensuring the company’s financial health, stability and growth.  The ideal candidate should be capable of strategic thinking while also being willing and able to take a hands-on approach and actively participate in implementing solutions as needed.  This position will work closely with and support the EVP/CFO by engaging in various projects and problem solving for issues as they arise and will serve as the Acting CFO as needed when the EVP/CFO is on leave.  This position will work closely with our federated affiliates with a strong customer service approach to making them wildly successful.   

In addition, the successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following:

Be a Mentor to existing staff to help them grow professionally Be Technology Minded to create and foster a culture of embracing technology within the Accounting Departments for process and reporting efficiencies This included overseeing the accounting technology strategy and accounting related systems An understanding of the current Treasury Management industry to elevate the current cash management process for multiple entities and subsidiaries Timely and accurate cash forecasts are an essential part of the Management decision making process.  This position will set the cash management strategy for multiple entities, as well as cultivating the banking relationship for VOA Board Committee Lead - Serve as the Lead Staff member for multiple Board Committees across various entities and subsidiaries, managing committee operations and coordinating ongoing committee education Be a Business Partner to the EVP/CFO as well as proving value-added support to the Management Team and the Affiliates

Primary Responsibilities:

Oversee the monthly financial package and year-end financial reporting: Ensure VOA in in compliance with periodic external covenants Ensure VOA’s policies and procedures are relevant, and provide strong and effective internal controls Ensure clean annual audit reports for various entities Establish the Technology Strategy for the Accounting Departments: Maximize the systems to drive efficiency for processes and reporting Be seen as delivering value to the management team through timely and accurate reporting Able to understand and evolve the accounting support with the changing needs of the management team Understanding current and emerging technology trends Manage staff across multiple entities: Mentor staff to ensure growth professionally; build bench strength within the Accounting Departments with exiting staff Coach, train, and supervise staff in efforts to maintain a high level of customer service to internal and external clients Align the annual staff goals with the current strategic plan of VOA Internal Consultant with the 29 Affiliate VOA entities: Provide value-added support to all Affiliates, including mentoring staff to enhance the way they support their customers Work in conjunction with the VP, Affiliate Financial Services to support the Affiliates Foster group problem solving for issues with the Affiliates and the internal Management Teams Identify and implement realistic National Programs to assist the VOA Affiliates in their work Be an active member of the Affiliate CFO Network

Treasury Management Oversight:

Implement a multi organizational Treasury Management system to ensure timely and accurate cash forecasting. This will require working with other staff in different departments to be successful Provide management with options for making critical and timely decisions, considering the multifaceted complexity of the entities and their limitations and restrictions Develop and implement strategies to minimize banking fees at VOA, which has over 400 bank accounts

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to provide objective solutions and expertise; to be a trusted advisor, helping affiliated organizations optimize their operations and achieve their objectives through a well-informed, thoughtful approach Ability to provide positive customer service experience Ability to research IRS and industry regulations and trends and present findings Demonstrate the ability to successfully implement change to financial and program processes Experience working collaboratively with other departments and demonstrating successful outcomes Demonstrated experience working with boards of directors and committees Excellent written and verbal communication skills A positive attitude, self-confidence, and ability to work independently Highly detailed oriented and refined problem-solving skills Innovative thinker Travel as needed Advanced technical skills in accounting systems and databases; Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) with NetSuite, preferred Business Intelligence (BI) experience

Qualifications:

Education and Experience: 

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field (CPA desired and/or Master’s degree preferred) Minimum 10 plus years of progressive leadership experience required in a Human Services or Healthcare industry preferred Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a matrix management structure and prefer experience working in a federated model A passion for learning in a multifaceted, complex organization
