Overview The Vice President of Business Intelligence will play a pivotal role in our organization, leading the strategy and execution of data-driven initiatives to support business decisions, enhance customer experiences, and drive growth. This executive will be responsible for building robust Business Intelligence capabilities and fostering a data-driven culture. The ideal candidate will be a leader with a unique blend of business and technical savvy, a strategic mindset, and a passion for Business Intelligence. This position offers a unique opportunity for a Business Intelligence leader to shape the future of our organization through innovative data strategies and capabilities. This is a hybrid role with flexible work encouraged, based out of Gallagher’s global headquarters in Rolling Meadows, IL. How you'll make an impact Team Leadership: Lead and manage the Business Intelligence team, setting clear goals and expectations, and fostering a culture of growth, excellence, and innovation. Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performing Business Intelligence team. Business Intelligence Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive Business Intelligence strategy aligned with the organization's objectives. Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in Business Intelligence, and translate those trends into recommended actions for our company. Data Governance: Establish and enforce data governance policies and standards to ensure data accuracy, privacy, and security. Project/Program Oversight: Guide others toward project management best practices without getting involved personally. Can quickly spot issues and issue guidance on how to resolve. Expert on: Project estimation and resource planning Project execution and evaluation relative to goals, in the form of speed, quality, scope, and cost Project status reporting Financial Management: Ensure large team of 50+ individuals stays on budget, including monitoring and managing the mix shift of work (CapEx vs. OpEx) and contractor/consultant expenses month to month. Vendor Partner Management: Manage vendors toward value delivery at reasonable cost. Data Platforms: Partner with IT Architecture to ensure that the data architecture and infrastructure support the organization’s evolving needs. Oversee the selection and implementation of Business Intelligence tools and platforms. Partner with IT Operations to maintain Business Intelligence platforms, ensuring availability, security, performance, and compliance. Data Resources: Oversee the management of data resources, including data collection, storage, and quality. Business Collaboration: Work closely with other executives and department leaders to identify and prioritize Business Intelligence needs. When business needs arise, support leaders in understanding what is feasible and what type of project may be appropriate. Compliance: Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable corporate policies and procedures. About You Exceptional leadership and team-building skills, with an ability to inspire, motivate, and guide a diverse team of data professionals. Strong intellectual curiosity, high emotional intelligence and great degree of empathy Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal. 10+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. Proven track record of developing and executing Business Intelligence strategies that drive business results. Strong knowledge of data management, data governance, and data quality principles. Proficiency in analytics tools, data visualization software, and data platforms – preferably Azure and Snowflake. Strong strategic planning and problem-solving skills. Ability to think creatively and innovatively about how Business Intelligence can be leveraged. Ability to align Business Intelligence initiatives with business goals. Ability to adapt to changing business needs and technologies. Willingness to continuously learn and stay updated with industry trends. Thorough knowledge of insurance industry preferred, or at minimum, the proven ability to learn a new industry quickly.
