Vice President of Clinical Services

POSITION SUMMARY

The Vice President of Clinical Services will work closely with the Senior Vice President of Operations to shape and execute the company’s strategic vision for clinical care across assisted living, independent living, and memory care. This role will oversee the delivery of health care and support services by Regional Support Nurses (RSNs), Health Services Directors (HSDs), and direct care staff, ensuring compliance with company policies and all local, state, and federal regulations. The Vice President of Clinical Services will collaborate with senior leadership to ensure clinical programs meet the highest standards of care and drive continuous improvement at the community level.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Oversees and supports the delivery of nursing services at assigned communities to ensure high quality resident care and positive clinical outcomes.

2. Collaborates with the Executive and Senior Level leadership to develop, implement, and manage clinical strategies, initiatives, policies, and practices that enhance resident care and ensure regulatory compliance.

3. Leads and supervises clinical teams, including Regional Support Nurses (RSNs), Health Services Specialists (HSSs), Health Services Directors (HSDs), and community nursing leadership, providing daily oversight, coaching, training, performance management, and conducting annual reviews for direct reports.

4. Partners with senior leadership to drive comprehensive clinical results across multiple service sectors, including assisted living, independent living, and memory care, by fostering collaboration and resolving barriers to quality care.

5. Develops, implements, and maintains training programs for clinical staff to ensure compliance with state, federal, and company regulations while promoting resident-centered care approaches and supporting residents' rights to participate in their care decisions.

6. Assesses and ensures compliance with company policies, clinical best practices, and state and federal regulations through routine site visits, audits, surveys, and by partnering with community leadership to provide nursing support, training, and develop corrective action plans as necessary.

7. Leads proactive quality improvement programs, leveraging data and clinical analytics to improve care outcomes and clinical performance at both community and regional levels.

8. Mentors and empowers clinical staff, ensuring they have the tools and support needed for professional growth, regulatory compliance, and delivering high-quality care.

9. Participates in the recruitment, screening, and interviewing process for clinical leadership positions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and staffing needs.

10. Assists with the development and revision of clinical policies and procedures to ensure alignment with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and the evolving needs of the communities served.

11. Oversees the coordination of clinical services with vendors and ancillary providers ensuring compliance with contracts and standards.

12. Provides on-call support to RSNs and assigned communities, addressing clinical concerns, providing guidance, and ensuring coverage during staff vacancies or absences.

13. Ensures successful survey preparation, including assistance with plan development and compliance monitoring, to achieve ongoing regulatory compliance and mitigate clinical risks.

14. Collaborates with operational teams to ensure the adequate placement of qualified clinical staff, assesses clinical staffing needs to support resident care, and oversees the implementation and compliance with State Acuity-Based Staffing (Oregon ABST) requirements to ensure staffing levels meet residents' acuity needs.

15. Conducts regular and frequent risk management reviews to ensure communities are consistently meeting state and federal requirements, promptly addressing any compliance or care concerns, and implementing appropriate corrective actions as needed.

16. Leads and supports the development of clinical performance improvement plans in collaboration with regional and community leadership to drive positive resident outcomes.

17. Represents the company in corporate committees and external partnerships related to clinical care, including compliance, quality assurance, and healthcare industry organizations.

18. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, regulations, and clinical best practices, applying this knowledge to improve clinical services and respond to the changing needs of residents.

19. Participates in troubleshooting and resolving complex clinical challenges with leadership teams across the organization to ensure high-quality care delivery.

20. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate will have Nurse consulting experience for multiple facilities, particularly with at least five (5) years working in geriatric nursing. Minimum of three (3) years in supervisory or management positions with experience in budgets, staff development, and training. The candidate should possess strong critical thinking, decision-making, and communication skills, both verbal and written. The ability to assess and problem-solve high-stress situations in both resident care and employee management is essential. The individual should be a team player who is well-organized, flexible, and able to creatively solve problems in a dynamic work environment.


EDUCATION

The candidate must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, with a BSN or MSN preferred, and a current, unencumbered RN license in all states of PSL operation (or actively working to obtain license in each state).

PTO:
AL/PCI Salary: Accrue PTO at rate of 0.0615/hour during their first year/16 days.
PCI Hourly: Full-time and Part-Time team members (over 20 hours/week) accrue PTO at rate of 0.0423/hour during their first year.
