The Vice President of Compliance is responsible for modeling the Compassus values of Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Innovation and for promoting the Compassus philosophy, using the 6 Pillars of Success as the foundation. S/he is responsible for upholding the Code of Ethical Conduct and for promoting positive working relationships within the company, among all departments, and all external stakeholders. The Vice President of Compliance is a leadership position on the Company's corporate senior management team and reports directly to the Senior Vice President, Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer. S/he is responsible for talent management, development, and recruitment for compliance operations and compliance auditing functions. A successful Vice President of Compliance will be driven by ethical conduct and decision making consistent with fulfilling stakeholder expectations and strategically enabling the Company to accelerate evolution of the Compliance program, Company operations and strategic projects to expand the business both organically and through acquisition.
The Vice President of Compliance will focus on leadership and management: being an active leader, managing both the compliance department and compliance as a critical enterprise function within the Company. S/he contributes actively to the achievement of the Company's goals and the Compliance Department's goals and objectives. S/he is responsible for maintaining compliance with applicable federal and state rules and regulations. The Vice President of Compliance will collaborate on the development of and carry out many projects within the Compliance Work Plan. S/he will assist with the Management Compliance Committee on a quarterly basis and produce interim reporting as needed. The Vice President of Compliance will be the principal owner of compliance tactics in policies and procedures, effective disclosure reporting, compliance training, and auditing and monitoring, all while championing a culture of compliance. Must be able to work a flexible schedule and be able to travel up to 20%.
Position Specific ResponsibilitiesEngages all teammates enterprise wide in manifesting a culture of complianceDirects performance of the Compliance Operations and Compliance Audit teamsDesigns, implements and facilitates items on Compliance Work PlanMonitors daily compliance activities and direct all tactical mattersAssists in quarterly reporting to the Management Compliance CommitteeFunctions as a subject matter expert to teammates for compliance-related informationOversees development, review, advancement of internal compliance policies, procedures, tools, and resources to ensure compliance with applicable obligations, including requirements imposed by with Federal and State healthcare programsDesigns and facilitates participation in an effective compliance training program, including appropriate introductory training for new employees, annual and ongoing training for all employees, and lead both virtual and on location trainings as neededPromotes effective lines of communication, including the operation of a compliance hotlineOversees processes to ensure no employee, medical staff member, or independent contractor appears on the List of Excluded Individuals/Entities, the General Services Administration (GSA) list of debarred contractors, or State excluded providers listInfluences, leads and collaborates with enterprise Legal and Human Resources partners and with matrixed business partners across the EnterpriseConducts periodic compliance risk assessments that follow through with corrective actionsStructure and execution of annual compliance monitoring, auditing, and testing planAssesses internal and external auditing and monitoring for trends and coordinate mitigation activitiesSupervises compliance vendor managementResponsible for all facets of investigation and investigation reporting on matters related to complianceTracks and reports on corrective action(s) as a result of investigation or audit findingsExecutes integration and continued operations of the compliance program among joint ventures with healthcare partnersPerforms other duties as assigned
Education and/or ExperienceAdvanced/Master's Degree Required - JD preferredSeven (7) years of senior level healthcare compliance experience and be able to demonstrate a hands-on approach to building and improving ethics and compliance programs in a complex environment.Ten )10) years of people management experience, demonstrating the ability to upskill and drive a collaborative and productive team culture.Experience with compliance and healthcare technology systems.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to articulate complex regulatory information in understandable terms orally and in writing. Excellent written skills required to write and edit policies, procedures and memorandums; create training materials and compile reports. Strong organizational and time management skills.
Certifications, Licenses, and RegistrationsCertification in compliance or internal audit preferred.
