The Vice President (VP) of Finance serves as a key member of the hospital’s executive leadership team, responsible for overseeing the strategic and operational functions of the Accounting and Revenue Cycle departments. This position ensures the financial health and integrity of the organization through sound fiscal management, regulatory compliance, and performance improvement initiatives. The VP of Finance plays a critical role in strategic planning, forecasting, financial reporting, and revenue optimization to support the hospital’s mission and goals.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide strategic leadership and direction for all financial functions, including general accounting, budgeting, accounts payable, payroll, financial reporting, and revenue cycle operations.Oversee the hospital’s revenue cycle activities, including patient access, billing, collections, coding, and reimbursement strategies.Lead the preparation, presentation, and monitoring of annual budgets, long-range financial forecasts, and capital planning.Ensure timely and accurate financial statements in compliance with GAAP, Medicare cost reporting, and other regulatory requirements.Oversee the preparation and submission of the Medicare and Medicaid cost reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal and state guidelines.Lead payer relations strategy and contract performance monitoring to optimize reimbursement and strengthen payer partnerships.Develop and implement financial controls and procedures to safeguard assets, ensure accuracy, and improve operational efficiency.Partner with clinical and operational leaders to identify financial improvement opportunities and monitor performance against key financial indicators.Monitor payer contract performance and lead efforts to optimize reimbursement.Oversee internal and external audits, ensuring timely resolution of audit findings.Ensure the organization remains in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to financial and revenue cycle operations.Build and mentor a high-performing finance team, promoting professional development and succession planning.Serve as a key advisor to the CEO and Board of Directors on financial matters, risks, and opportunities.QualificationsEducation:• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), Finance, or Healthcare Administration preferred.
• CPA designation strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible financial management experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in a healthcare or hospital setting.
• Proven experience managing accounting operations, revenue cycle functions, payer relations, cost reporting, and financial reporting in a complex healthcare environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage change, and drive performance improvement.
• Primarily office-based with occasional need to attend meetings, presentations, or events outside regular hours.
• May require minimal travel to attend conferences or visit partner sites.
