Vice President of Institutional Advancement
Seeking an energetic, dynamic leader with an extensive record (7 years) of experience and success in university development and alumni relations, annual giving, fundraising, and institutional advancement. The Vice President for Institutional Advancement (VPIA) serves as the Chief Advancement Officer for the campus and is responsible for strategy development, implementation and accountability of major gift fund-raising for the campus. TheVPIAfurther advances the interests of the university by overseeing personnel in external relations and alumni relations.TheVPIAis a senior management position reporting directly to the President.TheVPIAprovides vision, leadership and supervision for staff in the following areas: advancement, alumni relations, and external relations.Extensive experience in designing, planning and executing institutional advancement programs and significant experience in planning, executing or leading a major, comprehensive capital campaign.

Oversees development of a program, plans, and activities to create and execute a comprehensive development plan achieving new and recurring contributions to a school, foundation, program, and/or group. Manages a portfolio of major gift donors and strategically builds fundraising prospects. Assists leadership in facilitating a comprehensive communications plan and with development strategies.

Build/qualify major gift prospects. Cultivate and foster donor relationships. Make initial contact with new prospects to arrange meetings and conversations. Determine if the prospect has the capacity and inclination to make a significant gift to the University. Prepare and execute gift and pledge endowment agreements. This includes ensuring that gift proposals meet the priorities of the University and receive approval from the President, revising agreements to meet donor’s specifications, ensuring it meets legal requirements and submitting for review by the Office of University Counsel. Strict adherence to University Institutional Advancement Gift Agreement policies and procedures.Prepare and execute cultivation tasks in consultation and collaboration with the President. Such activities might include arranging campus visits to meet faculty and speak with students, arranging visits between volunteers and prospects, and interfacing with financial advisors, etc.Work effectively and collaboratively with the University’s Philanthropic Alumni Engagement (PAE) Office to ensure compliance with university policies and procedures and to effectively reach potential donors. Supervise personnel in Institutional Advancement Office.
