Vice President of Safety

Job Title: Vice President of Safety 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Formulate and execute a comprehensive safety strategy and vision applicable across the entire organization. Oversee the safety department, giving safety managers and coordinators leadership and direction. Work with senior leadership to incorporate safety considerations into all business operations and decision-making processes. Develop, execute, and uphold thorough safety initiatives, regulations, and protocols. Adopt and apply leading industry standards to foster a premier safety culture aimed at averting significant incidents. Cease any operations and activities that may pose a risk to employees or equipment. Develop, execute, and assess safety policies and procedures to ensure adherence to OSHA regulations. Provide administrative and technical directions and provide updates on all corporate safety and health programs, procedures, and policies. Perform periodic evaluations and revisions of safety programs to guarantee their efficacy and adherence to industry standards. Perform site evaluations and safety inspections to detect possible risks. Formulate and execute strategies for risk reduction and establish emergency response protocols. Conduct inquiries into safety incidents and near-misses to identify underlying causes. Compile and deliver routine safety performance reports to senior management and the board of directors. Foster open communication and collaboration across departments to promote a shared commitment to safety. Represent the company in all safety-related meetings, functions, and hearings. Review all safety documentation/reports for accuracy and completeness; ensure all required documents are forwarded to federal and state agencies per regulations and company insurance carriers according to their requirements. Develop the safety budget and ensure expenditure does not exceed the budget. Keep accurate statistics for all training, expiration dates, and expenses. Comply with all Corporate level reporting, goal setting, and attainment. Participate in weekly Project Management meetings.

Job Specifications (incl. Education requirements, minimal experience, computer skills required, etc.) 

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or field safety experience of at least 7+ years applicable to Construction, Service, or Facilities Safety Program implementation. 10+ years of experience in safety management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within the industrial construction industry. Extensive knowledge of OSHA and other relevant safety regulations and standards Experience in written program development and implementation, hazard identification and remediation, record retention and report productions, public speaking, training program development and delivery and claim management. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Thorough understanding and ability to enforce all federal, state, local and company regulations. Proficient communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are essential. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft products, Certifications in OSHA 30, OSHA 500/501, First Aid, and CPR.

Compensation Range:  $175,000 - $250,000 per year
