Your Role at a Glance We are seeking an experienced and visionary Vice President of Software Engineering to lead and scale our software development organization, leading the technology strategy, innovation and delivery of the Mastercam product roadmap. The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and proven leadership skills to drive innovation, efficiency, and continuous quality improvements across all software initiatives. The VP of Software Engineering will play a critical role in shaping the company’s technology strategy and the Mastercam Product Roadmap as well as the Sandvik Manufacturing Solutions (SMF)'s overall vision. How You’ll Drive SuccessSoftware Development + Develop and lead the implementation of software engineering strategies, standards, and processes to ensure high-quality and timely delivery of software products to meet the product roadmap. + Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and QA, support and sales to define and prioritize product features and requirements. + Oversee the architecture and design of software systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security. + Drive continuous improvement in software development practices, tools, and methodologies. + Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to meet business objectives. + Remains up to date on industry trends/emerging technology to ensure the company remains competitive. + Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence within the engineering team Leadership & Team Development + Establish a collaborative and high-performing environment within the product team, fostering innovation and continuous learning. + Mentor and develop team members, provide guidance and support to enhance capabilities and performance. + Provide proactive alignment and context for team members, ensuring clear communication centered on performance and positive progress toward team objectives. + Manage technical debt and ensure adherence to industry standards and compliance requirements. + Work closely with the Chief Innovation Officer and other executives to execute innovation and product initiatives, ensuring favorable execution of well-communicated and comprehensive technology strategies. Performance Monitoring & Reporting + Develop and manage budgets for the engineering department. + Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure team success. + Monitor product performance and make data-driven decisions to optimize outcomes. The Talents We’re SeekingEducation + Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field. Master’s degree preferred. Required Skills + 15+ years’ of proven experience in software engineering, with at least 7 years in software engineering leadership roles. + Proven track record of success delivering complex software solutions in a timely manner and within budget. + Proven experience of leading large global development organizations (>50 members) + A blend of strategic vision and technical leadership. The ability to know when to lead and when it’s time to roll up your sleeve. + Strong technical expertise in agile software development, with proven architecture and design expertise and working knowledge of modern programming languages and tools such as C#, C++, Python and Git. Experience developing in Visual Studio for Windows is a plus. + Strong Experience with application development in cloud ecosystems: Familiarity with Azure or other cloud platforms. Previous experience with taking premise applications to Cloud preferred. + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects at once, projecting a positive outward demeanor. + Willingness to travel as needed, including internationally. Preferred Skills + Communication Proficiency: Strong verbal and written communication skills, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, and capable of delivering information in a timely and succinct manner. + Collaborative Approach: Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build relationships, work in a decentralized organization, and engage with diverse cultural and economic backgrounds. + Organizational Skills: Ability to plan, budget, and manage resources efficiently. + Team Collaboration: A collaborative team player who communicates clearly and persuasively.
