Vice President Operations – Metal Service Centre
Aplin has partnered with our client, a mid-size Metal Service Centre with two locations in Ontario and one in Quebec, is seeking a dynamic Vice President of Operations. They specialize in producing Carbon, Stainless, and Aluminum products through their industry-leading facilities. Their success is driven by dedicated employees and a commitment to reinvest in the necessary assets and resources to maintain a profitable business model.

Reporting Relationship:
This role reports directly to the President.

Key Responsibilities and Requirements:Management Oversight:Oversee all plant operations.Manage related trucking operations.Ensure robust process management.Provide daily presence at Mississauga locations and periodic oversight of Quebec operations.Establish and maintain performance accountability against planned results.Leadership and Culture:Demonstrate high-energy leadership with a strong focus on health and safety.Cultivate a progressive team-first culture emphasizing employee health, safety, and development.Foster industry-leading service, aggressive benchmarking, and continuous improvement.Develop a communicative, non-bureaucratic organization.Strategic Execution:Manage all aspects of operations, including cost control, financial results, strategy execution, project oversight, and Capex.Drive organic expansion and organizational development, adapting the organizational structure to business needs.Convey the overall vision for the business unit and focus teams on executing the strategy.Continuously assess trends and their potential impact, seeking new opportunities to increase operational effectiveness.Ensure a consistent level of performance, operating excellence, and industry-leading service levels.Professional Experience/Qualifications:Experience:Proven track record of leading a manufacturing business, preferably in the metal industry.Minimum of 10 years of experience in the metals industry or a relevant field.Skills:Strong knowledge of health and safety requirements and best practices, with a commitment to team member safety.Exemplary leadership skills.Ability to consistently meet commitments and translate business requirements into actionable plans.Experience with LEAN, Six Sigma, TQM, and similar productivity and preventative maintenance tools.Education:A bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field is required.An MBA or other advanced degree is preferred.
