Victim Services Advocate

Night shift position

Provides direct advocacy services for a multi-disciplinary, hospital based sexual and domestic violence program, dedicated to enhancing prevention and intervention services to patients and families experiencing intimate partner violence (IPV), domestic violence (DV) and sexual assault (SA). Performs all duties in a manner which promotes team concept and reflects the mission and values of Bon Secours Health System. Works closely with forensic nursing staff. Collaborates and serves as a liaison between community partners such as law enforcement, attorneys, and social and victim service agencies.

               

Essential Job Functions

Provides hospital and community based services to patients who have experienced IPV/DV/SA through assessment, crisis intervention, and counseling. Works with hospital and community providers to participate in connecting patients to appropriate services.Facilitates communication and networking amongst service providers to increase efficiency and effectiveness of direct services to patients.Provides accompaniment for victims of IPV/DV/SA within the Bon Secours Healthcare System as needed Provides identified individuals with community based counseling, case management and other services post-discharge. Provide on-going case management and follow up services post discharge for the patient Abides by all medical information release practices and Release of Information (ROI) standards.Actively participates in meetings, conferences, committees, and task forces pertaining to violence and  prevention efforts, as requested by HVIP Manager.                                                                    

Education/Experience                                                 

Required Minimum Education: High school.Preferred Education: 4 years/ bachelor’s degree1 - 2 years’ experience and training working with at -risk populations. Hospital and community experience preferred.Ability to work collaboratively with several internal and external partners serving community
