Glimpse of the Job
The College of Arts and Sciences at Texas A&M University is seeking a creative and technically skilled Video Coordinator to join our Marketing and Communications team. This position plays a key role in capturing and producing high-quality video content—both short- and long-form—that supports our mission and elevates the visibility of our research enterprise to external audiences, including prospective students, donors, funding agencies, and peer institutions.
Opportunities to Contribute:
+ Collaborate with the research and marcomm teams to identify and develop research-focused video content that aligns with the college’s strategic goals.
+ Plans, shoots, and edits short- and long-form video projects including faculty interviews, research featurettes, b-roll in labs and field settings, event coverage, and promotional content.
+ Manages video shoots, editing, and processing of video productions from b-roll, interview footage, animation, and other sources.
+ Collaborates in conceptualization of videos, both pre- and post-production.
+ Captures high-resolution photography to support college-wide marketing and storytelling initiatives as needed.
+ Edits content using Adobe Creative Cloud applications including Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, and related tools.
+ Ensure all content meets Texas A&M brand standards, accessibility requirements, and copyright regulations.
+ Work closely with vendors and other communications staff to ensure timeliness and quality of final products.
+ Purchase, inventory and make minor repairs to all equipment for the video and photo team as requested.
+ Ensure the studio remains functional and all equipment is kept up-to-date and operational.
+ Assist the team as requested with organizing, maintaining and innovating the archives for all video and photo assets and project files according to team standards.
+ Track and manager usage rights and permissions.
+ Curate, archive and update highlight reels and image libraries.
+ Train and mentor student employees on video, audio production and video editing.
+ Promote an environment that is respectful of others and encourage honest feedback and coaching of employees.
+ Stays informed on current trends in video production, motion graphics, and digital storytelling; makes recommendations for innovation and improvement.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in video production, communications, journalism, media studies, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Three years of experience in video production and editing.
+ Demonstrated proficiency with camera operation, lighting, and audio setup for interviews and field shoots.
+ Experience using Adobe Premiere Pro and other Adobe Creative Suite tools.
+ Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
+ Effective communication and people skills with a team-focused attitude.
+ Must be able to lift 30 lbs. and transport camera and lighting gear.
A well-qualified candidate may also possess:
+ Experience working in a higher education or research-focused environment.
+ Ability to translate technical or scientific concepts into visual narratives for general audiences.
+ Working knowledge of After Effects, motion graphics, or animation.
+ Experience with photography, photo editing, and content optimization for web and social media.
+ FAA Part 107 drone certification or willingness to obtain it.
+ Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
+ Ability to positively and professionally interact with clients and staff.
+ Excellent communication and presentation skills.
+ Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
+ Working knowledge of office software and instructional programs.
+ Skilled in utilizing various learning and active listening strategies.
+ Ability to positively and professionally interact with clients and staff, groups of various sizes.
Salary: $45,000.00 - $52,000.00
Schedule: Occasional evening or weekend work may be required based on shoot schedules.
Location: This is an in-person position based on campus in College Station with occasional travel for on-location filming.
