Compensation

Compensation includes a base salary of $85,500.00 - $128,300.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (AJC) is committed to being the premier source of news and information for Atlanta, Georgia, and the Southeastern U.S. As we transition from a historic daily newspaper to a dynamic modern media company, we are seeking a talented Video Operations & Media Manager to join our team. 

 

Position Overview: 

 

The Video Operations & Media Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing all aspects of video production, including transmission, delivery, and archival processes. This role is integral to ensuring the efficiency of our video operations and achieving our strategic video objectives while maintaining technical and network security. The ideal candidate will be solutions-oriented, capable of working cross-functionally with key stakeholders, and dedicated to enhancing our creative video production capabilities. This position encompasses the full lifecycle of video production, from technical hardware and workflow solutions to digital media management and archival best practices. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

Manage video production operations in a high-paced news environment while meeting tight deadlines. Oversee visual and technical operations, including installation, testing, and maintenance of software, firmware, and hardware. 

Upload and integrate recorded video footage, audio recordings and photo/other types of content into the cloud library and production server. Categorize and tag footage with metadata for efficient retrieval and management. 

Manage video archive media inventory and process media content for archival preservation, adhering to best practices for media preservation and storage. 

Help oversee production equipment inventory management platform 

Provide guidance and best practices for video and audio production that includes training team members on new cameras, hardware, software, and new workflows. 

Address and resolve technical emergencies, including off-hours and remote troubleshooting. Find creative solutions to challenging problems 

Provide technical support for video studios and maintain specialized equipment for video/audio production, post-production, and interactive media. 

Track the status of ongoing projects, providing necessary support and updates to ensure milestones are achieved. Execute export processes according to technical specifications and delivery requirements. 

Advise teams on optimal production workflows for new branded franchises and collaborate with IT teams to integrate technical components to meet evolving requirements. 

Stay current on emerging technology trends and identify developments that could enhance business operations. 

 

Qualifications: 

 

Expertise in post-production software such as Adobe Premiere or similar tools. 

Expertise in popular Digital Cinema cameras and associated workflows 

Proven adaptability to changing environments and requirements. 

Strong commitment to journalistic integrity and best practices throughout production and publication. 

Ability to work closely with standards and legal teams to ensure compliance with AJC editorial guidelines. 

Flexibility to work extended hours as needed by deadlines and news cycles. 

Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills. 

Exceptional communication skills. 

Advanced knowledge of video production, transmission, hardware, and non-linear editing systems. 

Proficiency in IP video, network infrastructure, and system security. 

Experience in project management. 

Strong attention to detail, keen eye for quality, and organizational skills.  

Without formal education, you must have a minimum of 8 years of experience in digital video.  With a bachelor's degree, 6+ years of experience in one or more areas of video production with one of those years in a lead type role; while with a master's degree have at least 4 years of experience; with Ph.D. must have at least 1 year of experience. 

 

Location: Atlanta, GA (Some travel may be required).
