CBC Saskatoon is looking for a creative and dynamic video producer to collaborate closely with our teams in news, current affairs and social to create high impact visual stories for all platforms. 

The successful candidate will take daily direction from the Senior Digital Producer and will focus on creating original visual content that resonates with audiences, reaches new communities and elevates a range of voices and perspectives within the region.

You will help elevate our video content in web stories and other video platforms.  You will play a role in managing video lineups on our websites and streaming channel. You will support live storytelling.

This role requires someone that has a demonstrated knowledge of broadcast, digital and social media programming, an understanding of how audiences consume content across platforms, and how to successfully deliver our content to those audiences across the digital and streaming landscape. A strong desire to experiment with new forms of visual storytelling is also a must. 

If you possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, are a strong planner and organizer, and are at ease with juggling multiple tasks and priorities at once then this role might be for you. 

Your responsibilities:

Under the direction of Senior Digital Producer, you will work closely with the Producer of our Video Unit unit to help elevate and produce video from across the newsroom on our robust and established digital platforms.

Help CBC Saskatoon highlight great local stories on our digital platforms with vertical videos on TikTok, YouTube and on CBC.ca.

Understand how video treatments are consumed, edited and packaged on different platforms including, TikTok, YouTube, in online articles and on TV.

Pitch and develop story content including researching, interviewing, video gathering, writing, editing of material, and packaging. Understands the resources needed to produce videos (cameras, reporters, graphics, music etc).

Pitch and develop stories that line up with our strategic goals including inclusion, and bringing a variety of Saskatchewan perspectives.

Determine the style, pace, tempo and format of stories to best position our content so that it’s easily discoverable for our audience.

Provide guidance and feedback to others on the video team about workflows and best practices. Vets the work of others, as required.

Shoot interviews and gather visuals.

Decide which elements should be included in an item, their order, length and sequence, as well as the method of transition from one element to another.

Work with Video Unit Producer to build lineups for and populate News Wheels and support streaming and live video demands. 

Your profile: 

Demonstrated experience working in a daily fast-paced multi-platform news environment. 

Strong visual storytelling skills.

Strong videography skills. Mojo, field broadcast videography and DSLR familiarity an asset. 

Proficient editing skills for both linear video programming and social platforms.

Experience and proven ability to package video content in compelling and innovative ways.

Strong handle on social media strategy for news organizations and the latest best practices.

Keen attention to detail and superior organizational skills.

A strong desire to live and promote the values of diversity and an inclusive and respectful work culture.
