Media Engineering

Job Summary

The team member will be responsible for driving and/or contributing to low latency research projects, like the implementation of LL-HLS, Media-Over-QUIC, or High Efficiency Streaming Protocol (HESP) system.The potential work will include building and optimizing the end-to-end video playback system, then leveraging the new protocols/algorithms to achieve lower latency.Breakdown the end-to-end latency data, and perform data processing and analysis including generating statistics from experiments, and effectively communicating results of the experiment.Contribute to the general research projects of the team like the optimization for CDN distribution, adaptive bitrate algorithms, and network transition protocols.Transform the innovation in the work in the form of patents or papers.

Responsibilities

Investigate and evaluate the front-end low latency streaming protocols, and responsible for launching the valuable features into our system. Drive and participate in the research and development tasks to implement a low-latency video streaming system, including but not limited to the architecture design, developments of the components and tuning of the algorithms.Participate in team scrum meetings to status ongoing activities, update schedule progress, and discuss new tasks.

Requirement

Basic Qualifications

Be familiar with relevant technologies in one or more of the following fields:Low latency video streaming algorithms/protocols.Video streaming distribution, like CDN or open cache.QoS and QoE optimization.Application of machine learning/deep learning in streaming systems.Basic computer skills and methods for data processing and analysis using either commercial software or scripting (e.g. Python)Basic English reading and writing skills, able to communicate effectively with the team3+ years of work experience

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in the field of low-latency streaming protocol, including but not limited to LL-HLS, LL-DASH, WebRTC, HESP. Experience in network transport layer optimization, such as congestion control algorithms.Experience in algorithm optimization for multi-CDN scheduling.Experience in Live latency optimization.

Required Education  

Master or PhD in Computer Science, Communication, or other technical field relevant to multimedia.
