Virologist II
**Overview** Element has a current opportunity for a **Virologist II** to join our growing team in Eagan, MN. The **Virologist II** , working as part of the Microbiology team will perform antimicrobial efficacy testing as part of a fast paced and vibrant Element testing lab. This position will follow standard and custom test methods to test antimicrobial product efficacy against viruses and bacteria, and will generate data while maintaining a high level of scientific integrity. This position may also assist with research and development (R&D) projects when implementing new methods or adapting current methods. The person who will be most successful in this position has exceptional organizational skills and enjoys working in a fast paced laboratory environment. A strong attention to detail is also necessary for this position as there is a lot of regulatory requirements including specific documentation practices and following detailed testing protocols. We are looking for a candidate who has had 3-5 years experience in a laboratory testing environment and who acts mature and professional on a daily basis. **Responsibilities** + Performs, evaluates, and interprets a wide range of microbiology assays including basic analytical titrations in accordance with SOP and protocols under the full guidance and direction of the Study Director or Lab Manager. + Responsible for the development of, performing, evaluating, and interpreting Research and Development (R&D) projects with the guidance of the Study Director and/or lab management. + Performs virus propagation using aseptic technique and cell cultures. + Responsible for generating and maintaining strict documentation of raw data to ensure a high level of scientific integrity in accordance with regulatory requirements. + Responsible for the monitoring, cleaning, and decontaminating of laboratory equipment on a routine basis. + Assists with developing and refining new and existing Standard Operating Procedures and forms. + Has good time management skills and is able to handle multiple tasks related to laboratory processes. + Able to plan daily work and arrange activities to meet deadlines. + Enjoys working in a team environment. + Basic understanding of applicable regulatory requirements and how they impact business. + Assists laboratory management in developing or training new or existing laboratory employees. + Performs testing and lab support in other laboratories as needed (microbiology or media preparation, for example). **Skills / Qualifications** + A B.S. degree in biological sciences is required. + Solid understanding of the principles and techniques of classical microbiology, including bacteriology, mycology, virology, cell culture maintenance and microscopy. + Knowledge of general analytical procedures including chemical titrations. + Understanding of virus and cell culture propagation techniques. \#LI-TK1 **Company Overview** Element is one of the fastest growing testing, inspection and certification businesses in the world.
