FOSTER CARE VISITATION COACH - KALAMAZOO 

 

Must have afternoon, evening and weekend availability- Minimum of 1 or 2  days weekly. Shift hours  2PM to 6PM

 

Do you have an Associate’s degree in human services or related field OR a high school degree and 2 years of experience in a day care setting or school setting? We have an opening for a Visitation Coach in our Grand Rapids Foster Care program at $15.00 an hour. This person-focused, compassionate team member provides individualized coaching to parents whose children have been removed from the home due to abuse/neglect, supporting and enhancing the strengths of parents and assists them in acquiring new parenting skills. AUTOMOBILE TRAVEL REQUIRED INCLUDING valid unrestricted driver’s license with good driving record required. In addition, valid / current proof of automobile insurance registered in your name is required.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

Using a strengths-based model, coach parents on needed parenting skills by modeling, instructing, and promptingAssist parents in identifying their goals for visitations and follow up to review progress and reinforce strengthsIntervene as necessary to ensure child safety and ensure content of conversations is appropriateProvide transportation for foster children to and from family visitsSupervise children during appointments either at home, office or at other appropriate sitesObserve parent/child interactions and closely document. Report strengths and concerns to the social worker with case responsibilityProvide auxiliary services related to center’s foster care program in accordance with center, division, organization, and contract requirements _________________________________________________________________________________

Job Qualifications

 

Education, Training, and Licensure/Certification

 

Associate’s degree in human services or related field required or high school degree and 2 years of experience in a human services field

 

Experience

 

Knowledge of child development 1 year of experience in a day care setting or school setting strongly preferred

 

 

Additional Work Requirements

 

Automobile travel required. Valid unrestricted driver’s license with good driving record required. Valid proof of automobile insurance requiredUse of a safe and clean vehicleAbility to work a flexible schedule or nontraditional hours
