Visiting Assistant Professor of Physics

The Department of Physics at Hobart and William Smith Colleges invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor to begin August 1, 2025. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, one-year position with a teaching load of five or six courses.

Founded as Hobart College for men and William Smith College for women, Hobart and William Smith today is a highly selective, gender diverse residential liberal arts institution with a single administration, faculty and curriculum. HWS is located in a small diverse city in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. With an enrollment of approximately 1,850, HWS provides a rigorous curriculum from which students choose two areas of concentration from a wide array of majors and minors, and offer three Master’s programs. Creative and extensive programs of international study and public service are also at the core of our mission.
The salary range for this position is $46,036 - $63,499.

Candidates with a Ph.D. in physics or its equivalent are strongly preferred, but A.B.D. will be considered. We seek a physicist with a genuine interest in teaching and liberal arts education. We are open to all research areas.
