Visiting Assistant Professor or Visiting Lecturer in Statistics
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Skidmore College invites applications for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor or Visiting Lecturer for the 2024-25 academic year. This is a one-year position. A doctorate (or ABD status) in statistics, biostatistics, or a closely related field is required for the Visiting Assistant Professor position. A master’s degree in statistics, biostatistics, or a closely related field is required for the Visiting Lecturer position. The position involves teaching 18 contact hours per year, which is typically a 3:2 course load. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience. The successful candidate will be able to teach entry-level courses in our statistics curriculum, including our introductory statistics and statistical methods courses. Skidmore College is a highly selective, nationally ranked liberal arts college that fosters creative approaches to teaching and learning and values diversity. The Department of Mathematics and Statistics, which consists of approx. 12 full-time faculty members, is located in Skidmore’s Billie Tisch Center for Integrated Sciences, a state-of-the-art teaching and learning space that fosters unique interdisciplinary connections across the sciences, arts, and humanities. Located in the vibrant community of Saratoga Springs, New York, the 1,200-acre Skidmore campus is adjacent to the Adirondack Mountains and is only a 30-minute drive from Albany and a 3-hour drive from New York City, Boston, and Montreal. Rail service from the Saratoga Amtrak station offers additional travel options, including a direct line to New York City.
