It may be possible for position to begin January 2025. The teaching load is 15 credit hours per year (3 courses one semester; 2 courses the other semester). Duties and Responsibilities: Our new colleague will teach undergraduate/graduate courses in cognitive psychology, perception, introductory psychology, and other departmental courses as determined by the department chairperson. The teaching load is 15 credit hours per year (3 courses one semester; 2 courses the other semester). In addition, approximately one-third of the effort for this position involves research in the Word Recognition and Auditory Perception Laboratory of Dr. Joseph Toscano (more information about the lab can be found at www.wraplab.co). Academic advising of students and other tasks related to the academic functioning of the department, college, and university will also be part of the responsibilities. Minimum Qualifications: PhD in psychology with concentration in cognitive psychology or related field is required as well as evidence of excellence in teaching. Preferred Qualifications: Prior teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level in cognitive psychology, perception, and/or related areas. About the University: Founded in 1842, Villanova University has a total enrollment of about 10,500 students of whom approximately 7000 are full-time undergraduates in one of four colleges: Liberal Arts and Sciences, Engineering, Nursing, and Business. Location and Accessibility: Villanova University is located approximately 12 miles west of Philadelphia, PA, in the heart of Philadelphia’s suburban “Main Line” area. It is readily accessible by car and by public transportation. The campus is located about a quarter of a mile from the Villanova/St. Davids exit of I-476, a major component of the Philadelphia area expressway system. Villanova is connected to Philadelphia and to suburban communities to the west by a SEPTA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority) bus line and by the R5 regional rail line which has a station on campus. Another rail line, SEPTA’s Norristown High Speed Line, with two stations on campus, connects Villanova with suburban communities to the north and to the south.
