Job Description
The Visual Designer conveys design concepts into wireframes and high-fidelity, quality prototypes that align with project requirements, product objectives, brand personality, and the brand language of Traveloka.
He/She conducts visual audits and visual design research on competitors’ products and market trends, using data-driven insights to uncover new ways of visual delivery and provide recommendations to relevant stakeholders. Additionally, he/she visualizes new design ideas by creating sketches, building mock-ups, and designing prototypes during the development phase of visual output.
The Visual Designer is responsible for the overall visual solution, including ease of use, readability, and visual product understanding to help users complete tasks efficiently. Therefore, he/she possesses strong mastery in producing visual output across various formats, including:
IllustrationsLow-fidelity to high-fidelity prototypesStoryboardsInfographicsAnimation/Motion graphicsHe/She must be able to visualize concepts in their intended forms for stakeholders to ensure design intent is effectively communicated.
To achieve optimal product fit and quality, he/she should be able to manage multiple tasks concurrently, delivering within deadlines while adapting to a high level of changes and iterations. Additionally, the Visual Designer demonstrates strong stakeholder management skills, collaborating with internal teams to develop high-quality creative solutions that meet overall business objectives and goals.
Critical Work Functions & Key TasksVisualize and Implement DesignsClarify the assigned design project scope, including its goals, requirements, and expectations.Interpret illustrations, computer-aided design files, and/or other modeling data based on the specified project scope.Translate accurate visualizations from design concepts based on communicated requirements.Execute sketches, prototypes, visualizations, and mock-ups required by engineers for development.Create visual representations of the user journey using tools such as user flows, storyboards, or illustrations.Produce visual designs and test specifications for new design ideas while participating in design research.Enhance Design WorkExecute primary and secondary visual design research for data gathering if required.Consolidate visual audit and research findings on competitors' projects and market trends for reporting to relevant stakeholders.Generate ideas for new design concepts and prototypes.Participate in design research and workshop activities for insight gathering.Prototype and test proposed design solutions, iterating based on design specifications to ensure readiness for launch.Communicate outcomes of design tests and project implementation.Incorporate feedback from previous iterations into future mock-ups and design tasks.Conduct Usability TestingConduct usability and concept testing of design prototypes in laboratory settings, remotely, and in real-life scenarios.Analyze and synthesize user and expert feedback on the navigation, visual user interface performance, and overall design quality.Recommend refinements and iterations based on usability and concept testing results, identifying potential big ideas for future improvements.Monitor the quality of user interaction and visual design over time based on success metrics, providing actionable insights to improve product performance.Additional Key Skills & ExperienceProven experience in successfully delivering products in/for the Southeast Asia and/or regional markets.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build consensus across a broad, fast-moving organization.Expertise in negotiation, providing constructive feedback, presentation skills, managing expectations, and conflict resolution.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications1–5 years of experience as a hands-on Designer in the industry.Educational background in Visual Communication Design, Interaction Design, Product Design, Service Design, or other relevant Digital Design disciplines; or Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or related fields with equivalent practical design experience.Portfolio showcasing visual design craft, application of visual communication design principles, and an understanding of Human-Centered Design methodology, methods, and tools.Willingness to learn, iterate, and continuously improve; passionate about design and storytelling.Experience working with web or mobile-based technologies using design and prototyping tools (e.g., Sketch, Adobe Creative Cloud, Balsamiq, Zeplin, ProtoPie, Miro, etc.).Fluency in English (both verbal and written).Strong sense of accountability, adaptability, and ability to embrace ambiguity while collaborating in a fast-paced environment.Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in multidisciplinary design, business, and tech teams.Familiarity with web or mobile-based technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Android Studio, XCode) and Design Systems.Strong design sensibilities in applying brand identity to digital experiences.
