Summary About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Marketing Department, Air Force Academy, Colorado. This position includes benefits. Responsibilities Designs the form and layout of advertising that promotes the programs and activities of the 10th Force Support Squadron. Designs brochures, newsletters, program covers, calendars, charts, signs, posters, and banners using computer-generated graphics and desktop publishing software. Creates visual materials when suitable material is not available. Prepares art and copy for in-house laser printing and commercial offset printing. Maintains a record of work by work order. Determines audience characteristics such as age, interest, educational levels and attitudes to select those visuals that are best suited to the intended audience. Obtains relevant or historical organization or mission information need for projects. Proofs and corrects all advertising and publicity materials. Coordinates the printing and distribution of final materials. Works within the constraints of short deadlines. Photographs squadron events for use in publications and presentations. Receives work assignments from and works under the general supervision of the Marketing Director, who provides overall objectives and resource limitations on major projects. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Applicants must have progressively responsible experience which has provided knowledge of technical characteristics of art and copy layout techniques and photography. Knowledge of the technical characteristics of electronic pre-press and offset printing is required. Applicants must have experience that provided a basic knowledge of marketing. Skill in operating a MAC computer and use of graphics software (i.e., Adobe Illustrator, Creative Suites, etc.) is required. Applicant must have ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines and work independently. Oral, written and interpersonal communication skills are required. Ability to spell accurately and use grammar correctly. Ability to interpret and apply regulations. Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds, including up/down stairs. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
