VMWare Server IT Specialist

The resource will be the VMware Server Specialist for the operations and maintenance team. The VMware Server specialist is responsible for the providing technical direction, issues resolution, architecture, technical integration and technical service levels of all VMware installations. Define technical requirements & design to support defined business requirements, develop technical architecture components, participate in detailed design and code reviews, reviews system performance and consumption issues, review test plans, and provide technical guidance. Define and ensure adherence to architecture standards and ensures the proper technical design decisions are being made.

The resource will be an IT Specialist in support of the O&M Convergence & Prime Task Order 18 program. This is a team that works across four portals environments and supporting tickets to tier 3 support.

Required Technical Skills:

 

Good experience in VMware server installations in complex environment and very VMWare centric systems.

 Good knowledge and experience with VMware Clusters creation and support.

 Good knowledge and experience with vShield tool support and functionality.

 Good knowledge and understanding of VCD Disk imaging for VMware load support.

 Good knowledge and experience with vCenter tool support and functionality.

 Knowledge and understanding of single sign on access and support.

 Problem Solving Skills.

 Strong verbal and writing skills.

 Department of Treasury MBI clearance preferred.

 Good communication and organizational skills (nice to have).

 Wireless security (nice to have).

Responsibilities:

 Provide detailed definition on how the architecture will support the application(s).

 Conduct impact analyses of technical requirements on the system.

 Define software/hardware requirements and in-planning and delivering architecture.

 Deliver Quality Management and a Creation Plan.

 Develop technical standards for Client Service and/or Product Development.

 Participate in design code and test reviews as appropriate.

 Review, prioritize and research application change requests.

 Provide assistance in scheduling design work.

 Prepare contingencies, scenarios, scenario plans and action items to resolve issues.

 Communicate and resolve application interface issue.
