The Role
The VMware system administrator manages FFEM’s VMware environment, including storage and network management. They design, configure, and support virtual systems. They also maintain, upgrade, and improve virtual hardware, resources, systems, and key processes.
They will manage all aspects of Veeam Backup & Replication, including creating and managing backups, recovering data, and configuring settings.

Job Description
Key responsibilities for this role include:
Administer enterprise VMware-based virtualization infrastructures covering vCenter ESXi environments version 6.0 and later.Install, configure, and integrate servers associated with a VMware virtual infrastructure.Monitor, perform backups, troubleshooting and problem resolution for servers associated with a VMware virtual infrastructure.Follow patch procedures to maintain the system.Develop Test plans based on the design requirements. Execute tests within the approved labs.Develop implementation plans, back-out procedures, and success criteria.Analyze network traffic flow and infrastructure capacity.Develop and monitor policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.Develop and implement testing strategies and document results.Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 incident management.Perform configuration, change, and release management.Provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced staff members.Build and configuring virtual networks.Create and maintain VM templates used for rapid deployment of virtual machines.Assist with the coordination and implementation of hardware maintenance, upgrades, repairs, or replacements supporting the virtualization infrastructure.Provide advice and training to end-users.Participate in special projects as required.Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.Evaluate vendor products.Veeam SupportDay-to-day production support for VeeamCapacity management and reportingBacking up and restoring virtual machines and SQL databasesMonitoring alerts on servers and appliancesTroubleshooting tape drive issuesPerformance tuning, migrations, and capacity planningMonitoring backup failuresAbility to support shift work 7x24x365
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical degree and 5+ years of experience managing virtual server environments in multiple data centers.VMware Certified Professional (VCP) and CCNA certifications are preferredPreference will be given to candidates with experience in VMware vSphere, VSAN, NSX, HCX, Aria, and Veeam. Highest preference will be given to those candidates with related experience and certification in any or all of these technologies.Demonstrable experience responding to end user helpdesk tickets with excellent customer serviceDemonstrable understanding of good VM backup and recovery practicesUnderstand how to follow good ITIL service management practicesHave working knowledge of security methodologies in an enterprise infrastructureHave knowledge of intermediate networking management concepts and client troubleshootingStrong customer-service competencies, oral and written communication, technical documentation, time-management, and project management skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent change impact analysis skills for break-fixes, upgrades, and patchesMaintain systems according to established requirements through testing, implementation, and monitoring through the complete lifecycle of the product or solutionBe able to work in a dynamic, highly demanding, and highly visible team while keeping a professional attitude and composureBe able to work effectively alone and within a team environment, demonstrating the ability to make progress across multiple complex assignments at onceRequires experience with NetBackup, Backup Exec, and Veeam backup and recovery software products in a complex environment. Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, and be able to monitor and identify issues with backup jobsVeeam backup and replication experienceExperience with managed switch and router configuration, firewall management, and systems management and network monitoring software, a plus
