Provides occupational therapy services to the patients of the agency under the direction and written orders of a physician.\n
\n
Roles and Responsibilities:\n\nEvaluates the degree of function and disability of patients unless contraindicated by professional judgment or a physician's order.\nDevelops a treatment plan based upon patient evaluation and physician's orders that are designed to maximize patient independence in activities of daily living.\nPerforms occupational therapy procedures upon the written orders of a physician, utilizing a creative activity which may be of a manual, industrial, recreational or educational design and\/or adapted to correct or remedy any disability.\nDocuments in the patient's electronic chart all evaluations, re-evaluations, progress notes, consultations and discharge summaries within the time frame established by Visiting Nurse Service (VNS) policy.\nFabricates and applies splints, trains patients in the use of adaptive assistive devices and\/or self-help techniques to achieve maximum independence.\nParticipates with other clinicians in the formulation of the patient's total plan of care\nConsults with physician as necessary regarding the therapy plan of care and patient progress.\nEducates the patient and\/or family in knowledge of the patient's physical condition and treatment.\nParticipates in case conferencing with the Rehabilitation Director.\n\n

Required Skills and Experience:\n\n Graduate of an accredited program in occupational therapy.\n Possess current license and registration by the NYS Education Department as an Occupational Therapist.\n Possess at least one year of supervised clinical experience and has an understanding of the principles, techniques and practices of occupational therapy.\n Understands the operation and maintenance of apparatus and equipment used in occupational therapy.\n Understands the pathological conditions and socioeconomic factors affecting a patient's disabilities.\n Must have NYS driver's license and auto insurance.\n\n

Physical Requirements:\n\n Visual\/hearing ability sufficient to comprehend written\/verbal communication.\n Ability to perform tasks involving physical activity such as bending, standing, and the ability to transfer a patient with or without a transfer device.\n\n

Location and Travel Requirements:\n\nRemote\n100% Travel can be expected in this role\n\n

Pay Range Disclosure:\n\n$40.00 to $50.00 per hour\n\n
