Pure Research (PR) comprises fundamental systematic research of exploratory nature for the development of new products and services as well as disruptive technologies superseding conventional approaches. In contrast to applied R&D, PR covers the provision of a comprehensive understanding of scientific insights without directed application towards products, policies, or operational processes.

Subfamily Description

Research & Innovation (RIN) comprises the conduction of extensive fundamental scientific research on a particular field of expertise aiming at fuller, more complete knowledge and understanding of the fundamental aspects of a concept or a phenomenon. Covers encouragement of disruptive innovations and the provision of novel solutions while building up robust intellectual property for Nokia.

Impact is short-term and departmental/project in scope. Accountable for quality, accuracy and efficiency. Actions and errors can have functional area impact.

Knowledge & Experience

Performs routine engineering and research tasks that require application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Limited judgment on details of work and in making preliminary selections or adaptations of engineering alternatives. Supervisor screens assignments.
