Shift: Flexible, including evenings and weekends

Job Overview:
The Domestic Violence Shelter Assistant plays a vital role in providing support to clients in the shelter, facilitating psycho-educational groups, and ensuring the smooth operation of shelter facilities. This position involves crisis support, advocacy, and collaboration with shelter staff to meet the needs of clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Respond promptly to client needs within the shelter.Participate in case management meetings and therapy groups.Create and facilitate psycho-educational groups, classes, and house meetings.Answer 24-hour hotlines and provide crisis support and advocacy as required.Ensure shelter facilities are prepared for new clients.Complete necessary documentation for clients, including assessments and consent forms.Provide crisis intervention support to clients as needed.Organize and pick up donations for the shelter.Assist with grocery shopping and shelter upkeep.Perform outdoor landscaping and snow removal tasks.Collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator and DV staff to identify volunteer strengths and utilize them effectively in the program.Complete other duties as assigned by the supervisor or DV staff.
