Our hospitals, care sites and clinicians are recognized for clinical and operational excellence. **Volunteer Coordinator - Memorial Regional Medical Center** _**PRN (on a per-needed basis), day shifts**_ **Primary Function/General Purpose of Position** The position’s purpose is to promote organizational and operational effectiveness within the Volunteer Services department by providing clerical, coordination and administrative support services. Position is responsible for the coordination of activities and services to support Volunteer Services at Memorial Regional Medical Center. Will coordinates volunteers; perform administrative functions and special projects for the Volunteer Services and Administration Departments. This position acts as a liaison among various hospital departments and volunteers and will participates in volunteer recruitment, recognition, orientation, annual updates and training. **Employment Qualifications** Work requires knowledge generally acquired through work experience, completion of a college education with related course work preferred. The ability to organize, problem solve and prioritize tasks with minimal supervision. Excellent customer service skills and experience working with the public and a diverse population in a health care environment preferred. Proficiency in the operation of a desktop PC and Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), volunteer databases (Volgistics), email and any other electronic equipment necessary for telecommunication at an executive level required. Work requires effective communication skills, and interpersonal skills necessary to develop and maintain positive working relationships with many internal and external contacts and to represent Bon Secours positively in the community. **Essential Job Functions** Functions of this job may include but are not limited to the following: Practice continuous quality improvement and constantly monitor the volunteer program in order to enhance service. Assist in developing program goals and objectives with Manager of Patient Services and Volunteer Services. Interview prospective volunteers and coordinate the interview process with other Volunteer Services staff. Screen volunteer candidates and make assignments based on volunteer strengths and Hospital needs. Provide guidance to volunteers. Assist with the development of a volunteer orientation program Maintain regular contact with volunteers to assure shift coverage. Communicate regularly with Hospital staff to keep them informed for a better flow of services and activities. Assist in organizing Summer Student Program. Assures ongoing volunteer motivation and appreciation by promoting an attitude of courtesy and service excellence. Coach volunteers as necessary. Assist in coordination of events, such as National Volunteer Week activities, Volunteer Holiday Celebration, etc. Assist with all other projects for Volunteer Services. **Other Job Functions** 1. Monitor office supplies and volunteer uniforms and submit requests for replenishment. 2. Assist in the acknowledgement of all donations to the department. 3. Other duties as assigned.
