SUMMARY The Volunteer Transportation Manager oversees the robust 400 volunteers strong, transportation program, Give-A-Lift (GAL). Give a Lift is a collaborative system comprised of a network of volunteer transportation programs throughout Monroe County. Give a Lift serves urban and suburban neighbors and is growing. The goal will be to increase the capacity of volunteer transportation in Monroe County by building on, and expanding beyond, the existing programs. This position will also entail supporting the Transportation Specialists with assisting callers to Lifespan and NY Connects with exploring and linkage to local transportation options. Entrepreneurial spirit desired and attention to details needed. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.0 Volunteer Coordination (GAL) 1.1 Development and implementation of volunteer training and orientation 1.2 Screen, train, orient and assign volunteers 1.3 Manage volunteer placement 1.4 Facilitate the Volunteer Transportation Consortium 1.5 Maintain files, data, and timesheets 1.6 Completes GAL reporting requirements 1.7 Works with AmeriCorps Senior Volunteer and TRAC services. 1.8 Develop and implement volunteer recruitment plan including outreach presentations 1.9 Participates in the agency volunteer management committee 1.10Maintains current knowledge of best practices in volunteer management 2.0 Development of new volunteer transportation programs (GAL) 2.1 Create affiliations with potential social groups, colleges, faith communities, neighborhood centers, towns and villages, and human service organizations 2.2 Support the effort to expand programs in the county with the greatest need. 2.3 Establish programs serving the City of Rochester 2.4 Emphasis will be placed on communities identified by funding sources 3.0 Provides adequate staffing coverage to the TRAC team. 3.1 When the TRAC team needs coverage the GAL Manager will make accommodations to schedule to ensure coverage. 3.2 Uses professional skills and a person-centered, strength-based approach to provide telephone assessment and consultation services. 3.3 Provides mobility management support to individuals, including support to schedule rides and other transportation services for individuals served. 3.4 Maintains up-to-date professional knowledge of the transportation field with clinical skills and competencies through reading, workshops, and conferences. 4.0 Participates as a member of the inter-agency team. 4.1 Participates in all staff meetings (departmental and agency) and training, including cultural competency and corporate compliance. 4.2 Accepts and seeks guidance and supervision from the Director for Regional Mobility Management. 5.0 Other duties as assigned by supervisor Requirements QUALIFICATIONS Education:BA, BS degree or equivalent experience Experience: 2 year’s experience working in volunteerism, recruitment, and/or marketing PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS + Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills. + Computer skills for data entry and reporting. + Strong organizational skills necessary. + Must be able manage multiple projects at the same time. + Valid NYS driver’s license required. + Ability to travel around the county for outreach. + Availability to attend evening and weekend events as needed + Ability to work in multi-cultural situations.
