Chubb is currently seeking a VP, Claim Leader to oversee a Large Commercial D&O Litigation group consisting of 7 examiners dedicated to handling litigation claims involving Financial Institutions D&O/ E&O, Fiduciary and Transactional Risk claims. The position will be based in our Jersey City office and report to the Senior Vice President of Large Commercial D&O Claims.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Ensures handlers conduct appropriate and proactive claim handling as set forth in the handler goals and Best Practices. Train, mentor and develop staff who are at different stages of their career and experience levels Provide advanced technical guidance on claim investigation, reserving, case resolution and settlement strategies Actively participate in claim file and quarterly calls to address internal workflows, systems and compliance issues Conducts timely and appropriate reviews of authority and reserve requests as well as escalation issues from handlers. Demonstrates an understanding of common legal principles, statutes and regulatory issues related to claims. Uses a rational, data driven approach to decision making, staying focused on objectives. Identifies advanced implications of complex situations and issues. Incorporates personal work experience with available information to make and implement non-routine, more advanced decisions. Drafts and implements Best Practices Action Plans following audits to address identified improvement opportunities and tracks effectiveness of the plan. Demonstrate highly developed analytical, problem-solving and negotiation skills Develop and maintain strong business relationships with internal and external customers to enhance Chubb's brand in the marketplace Partner with internal business partners such as underwriting, claims business consultant and claims teams to enhance and manage marketing initiatives and customer service commitments Partner with external business partners such as brokers, producers, and law firms. Approximately 10+ years of claims and/or legal experience in insurance claims and Directors and Officers, Fiduciary and Transactional Risk liability insurance
Excellent written and oral communication skills Ability to manage claims examiners in multiple jurisdictions and within compliance standards Prior supervisory experience required Demonstrates a background in leadership Proven track record of success Subject matter expertise in handling claimsEducational and Professional Requirements:
Undergraduate degree from an accredited U.S. or foreign university or college. JD degree preferred. If you do not already have one, you will be required to obtain an applicable resident or designated home state adjusters license and possibly additional state licensure.The pay range for the role is $209,350 to $263,600. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program.
