VP, Data Capability Product Owner

North America (NA) Personal Risk Services (PRS) is seeking an experienced and results-oriented individual to be a part of a high performing team focused on the implementation of strategic transformational initiatives.  As part of the PRS transformation program, where we are modernizing core policy systems and ways of working, we will focus on improved data structure and access, data quality and governance, and drive differentiated data driven insights across key functional areas. 

Reporting into the NA PRS Business Transformation Architect, the Data Capability Product Owner is responsible for creating, shaping, and owning the vision and roadmap for critical data & analytics capabilities related to our core system modernization, prioritizing for the needs of the business departments, focused on business value, in support of delivering Chubb’s data and digital transformations.

The transformation roadmap is a compilation of technology, process, and operational improvements with a focus on our product and pricing operating model, underwriting experience, and efficiency, and advancing our agency service model. 

The ideal candidate must have a deep understanding of personal lines, with a focus on product development and management, the rate making process, data analytics and science, business intelligence, underwriting, and a strong understanding of the interdependence of other functional areas within the organization that interact with, are dependent upon, or are impacted by data.  They will be responsible for the transformation roadmap specific to the data impacts, needs, and capabilities to be enabled, along with strategic implementation, and tactical project execution, while navigating competing priorities. They will be a strong motivator and leader of people (both direct reports and in a matrix organization) while showing empathy through the change management process.

Key Responsibilities

Drive the development of and execute on a multi-year roadmap that considers the core system modernization and target state PRS data capabilities.  Lead a team of 3-5 direct reports who are embedded in multifunctional, agile teams to deliver high quality work product via faster/shorter iterative cycles. Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders e.g., PRS executive team, Product Management, Underwriting, Operations, Data & Analytics, and IT to establish, update, and deliver on the data priorities and backlog for the core system modernization. Drive decision-making and remove impediments to the team’s progress; influence key stakeholders, engage with other Product Owners (POs) to manage interdependencies, and escalate issues appropriately. Work with the business to understand and coordinate ranking and prioritization of business needs and plan solutions to ensure that each release provides optimized business results/benefits and value to users. Ensure initiatives optimize the objectives of competing priorities; work with stakeholders to understand the cost-benefit tradeoffs and lead the team to aligned priorities. Appropriately balance business needs and objectives with the transformation program objectives, budget, and timelines. Focus on driving toward standardization and automation to advance PRS’ transformation efforts while maintaining alignment to PRS’ profit, expense, and growth targets, operational strategies, and division-wide projects. Serve as the business owner of User Acceptance Testing and oversee acceptance criteria of testing output. Work with Learning Services to develop and deliver training on the use of new systems, tools, and processes.

Competencies 

Deep understanding of Personal Lines Property & Casualty product management/development, pricing strategies, practices, systems, workflows, as well as product offerings.  Working knowledge of all key stakeholder areas including Data & Analytics, Product, Pricing, Data Science, Business Intelligence, Operations, Underwriting, and Risk Consulting. Design thinking, customer centric approach, digital mindset, data-driven decision making. Excellent organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills. Able to challenge current ways of thinking; nurture and develop future-focused mindsets. Strong verbal and written communication and effective presentation skills. Comfort in a matrix managed, dynamic, and fast-moving work environment. Nimble with an ability to adapt and pivot to day-to-day changes that occur in managing large initiatives. Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience Minimum of 8-10 years in the Personal Lines P&C industry, with deep knowledge of the use of data in organizations – from the users (data science, pricing, product, underwriting) to the technical components (architecture, structure, data bases). Experience working with agile methodologies preferred.  Demonstrated strategic and people leadership and accountability while working in a complex cross-functional environment. Proven record of coordinating and implementing projects, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality project deliverables.
