The Head of Architecture Services at Tokio Marine HCC is a pivotal role that demands a candidate who is a strategic visionary aligning complex business needs to innovative technology solutions. This person also has exemplary leadership and collaborative skills to work across the enterprise to position our technology and data as a competitive advantage.
Enable Strategic Decisions
Envision, articulate & drive end-to-end integrated solutions for strategic programs typically spanning multiple lines of business, by bridging and integrating disparate Architecture solution-parts supporting their constituent work-streams, including dependencies on other strategic programs
Proactively partner with TMHCC Businesses to: drive outstanding customer experience outcomes; leverage data to make better decisions, faster; and continuing to evolve a best-in-class information security stance
Leverage business/technology capability models and blueprints to integrate and advance the business strategy and technology portfolio strategy, innovating and incorporating evolving industry trends within our risk appetite, in active collaboration with peers & partners across the TMHCC Business, Enterprise Architecture, and Information Technology teams
Provide advice on business, process, and technology evolution by understanding macro-level trends in the industry, our businesses, and technology evolution.
Provide leadership for technical integration patterns and best practices, enabling appropriate design and overseeing the seamless integration of diverse systems and applications across the enterprise.
Facilitate a community of architects across the enterprise to develop archetypes, the common to context capability assessment framework, and reusable patterns.
Pragmatic Communication with a focus on business impacts (ex. top-line growth, ROI, risk, trade-0ff’s)
Facilitate discussions with businesses and technology leaders to understanding commonality in opportunity for optimization of business processes and recommend solutions
Act as an effective liaison/point-of-contact between strategic program execution teams and overall Architecture community, staying tightly integrated with all peers at all times to deliver a holistic horizontal service to drive value
Articulate strategy success-stories & learnings with appropriate context and concrete details, and share with teammates/partners/leadership in a timely manner
Raise timely awareness about any strategy risk/debt proactively, and provide practical & actionable recommendations/enablers to detect/address/prevent them in a sustainable manner, and drive resolution in collaboration with partners
Ensure Reusability
Drive fit-for-purpose, pragmatic technology strategy thru effective partnerships and strong collaboration with the line of business Architects & developers, ensuring strategic alignment, simplification, sharing & reuse common capabilities
Assist TMHCC Businesses in implementing a common framework for integration, leveraging common tools where possible.
Ensure adoption of the defined strategy by reviewing Architecture artifacts, and thru continuous oversight of program execution to minimize variability & rework, ensuring all deliverables are effective in delivering the intended outcomes
Credibility
Jointly own the final outcomes with partners, and track self & partners to that final outcome in a timely manner
Have a deep understanding of modern ways of working (cross-functional teams, agile execution)
Improve the team’s brand presence by finding and/or creating opportunities and means to spread greater awareness of team outputs & practices
Generate ideas and means for optimizing everyday operations and improve sustainability, and share with teammates/partners/leadership
Maintain the application inventory and associated artifacts
Be the voice of the insurance industry and emerging technology trends
Champion adoption of mature open-source technology
Required Skills
Deep expertise and experience in Architecture practice, activities and deliverables
Have a deep understanding of modern ways of working (cross-functional teams, agile execution, product orientation)
Deep experience with application integration
Knowledge of past, present and future insurance business processes
Broad knowledge of the overall technology landscape across all tiers
Ability and willingness to forge strong trusted partnerships across multiple roles (architects, program leads, software & platform engineering leads) transcending organizations/hierarchies & projects in a boundary-less fashion with a spirit of shared goals, success & accountability
