The VP, Head of Risk Data and Reporting, will support American Express’ Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework through aggregation and analysis of risk data and the development and publication of risk management reporting aligned with regulatory expectations (e.g. OCC Heightened Standards and BCBS 239). This individual will oversee implementation of data governance frameworks, drive risk data quality improvements, and enable decision-making processes through comprehensive risk analysis and reporting.
Responsibilities:
Lead the end-to-end process for identifying and generating risk reports, ensuring quality and integrity of the underlying data. Oversee the aggregation and visualization of key risk indicators (KRIs), metrics, and thresholds across all risk domains. Ensure risk reports are timely, accurate, and compliant with internal governance policies and regulatory requirements. Partner with risk domain leaders (credit, market, operational, etc.), data teams, and technology functions to source, validate, and interpret data for reporting purposes. Act as the primary point of contact for executive management and regulators on matters related to risk data aggregation and reporting. Establish and enforce data governance practices to maintain high data quality and integrity within all risk reports. Conduct regular reviews of reporting processes to identify and address gaps or inefficiencies. Lead initiatives to streamline data integration, reduce manual processes, and increase scalability in risk reporting. Collects, analyzes, and summarizes risk data for management, committees, and directors, and develops a comprehensive report inventory to meet diverse stakeholder needs. Develops and maintains a library of KPIs, KRIs and EWIs for enterprise-wide risk monitoring. Establishes efficient processes for data extraction, report generation, and data analysis to identify risk trends, leveraging existing data sources and subject matter expertise.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in data analytics, finance, risk management, economics, or related field; advanced degree preferred. Minimum of 10 years of experience in data aggregation and reporting within the financial services industry. Strong understanding of financial markets, products, and regulatory requirements impacting risk management and reporting. Excellent analytical, communication, and influencing skills with the ability to interact effectively with senior stakeholders. Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including the ability to build and motivate high-performing teams. Professional certifications such as FRM, PRM, or CRM are highly desirable.Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the U.S is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions
Salary Range: $185,000.00 to $260,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
