Senior leadership role responsible for organizing, planning, directing, and controlling all aspects of the mortgage sales and Member experience strategy. Leads a team of individual contributors as direct reports. Ensure mortgage lending policies and procedures best serve the Credit Union and its Members. Ensures compliance with state and federal lending laws. Develops, recommends, and reports on improvements in mortgage lending products and services and their markets. Coordinates with Chief Lending Officer (CLO) and Home Mortgage Production leadership to ensure effective integration of product, service and origination functions.
Responsible for implementing and managing pricing / secondary marketing strategy as dictated by the CLO, Chief Financial Officer and decision-making committees (i.e. Asset/Liability Committee (ALCO). Maintains a comprehensive understanding of federal, state, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac regulations and their impact on the credit union.
Partners with key business development resources to maximize opportunity and growth outputs (i.e. CU Realty Services). Works closely with project and development groups to define, articulate and implement a digital mortgage experience.
Ensures that services are delivered professionally and efficiently through a tight integration with home mortgage and real estate production teams. Maintains a strategic focus and business acumen on real estate lending and its impact on the credit union’s vision and mission through industry awareness and engagement.
**Essential Responsibilities**
+ Oversees efforts to develop and establish internal and external programs and relationships with realtors, strategic sponsor contacts and others for attaining loan origination targets.
+ Oversees and monitors the mortgage loan function to achieve its strategic goals. Works together with lending managers to ensure underwriting, loan processing, loan documentation, approval, and denial of loans and mortgage loans are processed correctly.
+ Directs the staffing, development, and management of performance standards for mortgage lending sales staff. Provides mentoring, coaching, and training to support and develop staff.
+ Assumes responsibility for the effective management of, compliance to, and monitoring of assigned controls, policies, and procedures by self and the department.
+ Maintains expertise in operations functional areas. Demonstrated ability to balance between strategic thinking and tactical (operational) implementation; knowing how to set up systems and processes to get the job done.
+ Ensure that mortgage loan policies, procedures, services, products, and documentation meet federal and state regulations.
+ Formulates, collaborates, and maintains a loan policy and procedure canon for the mortgage loan group that is up to date with all regulations and requirements while ensuring employees are trained and in compliance.
+ Manages mortgage sales team including setting schedules, approving leave time, performance managing, reviewing metrics, counseling, and developing.
+ Responsible for the origination of all residential mortgage loans in accordance with established goals and standards of the department.
+ Responsible for the compliance of all residential real estate loans to NCUA rules and regulations, secondary market standards and federal real estate lending laws.
+ Responsible for partnering with the Vice President of Loan Services on matters about the ongoing servicing of residential mortgage loans that are held in portfolio or sold servicing retained.
+ Monitors the marketplace for changes in the industry or changing trends.

**Additional Responsibilities**
+ Prepare, implement and supervise the budget for the department that is consistent with the overall strategic plan and budget for the Credit Union.
+ Conducts regular department meetings and one-on-on ones with direct reports.
+ Manages the department budget and development of Operating Expense (OPEX) controls.
+ Sets clear, realistic goals and objectives; possessing an unwavering resolve to ensure that a plan gets executed; knowing how to effectively allocate resources to achieve goals.
**Education Level** : Bachelor’s Degree
**Relevant Work Experience:** 5 to 7 years
Experience working in a financial institution - Required
**Other Training, Technical Skills, or Knowledge Required**
+ Strong technology innovation knowledge or background preferred.
+ Skill in the use of word processing, spreadsheets, and database software programs.
**Other Measurable Abilities Required**
+ Demonstrated experience with key performance metrics and data to provide insights and make strategic business recommendations is required.
+ Excellent project management skills, with the ability to keep multiple priorities moving at the same time
+ Demonstrated ability to collaboratively influence, gaining broad stakeholder support when developing, implementing, and promoting strategies, initiatives, and projects
+ Demonstrated ability to successfully resolve situations that are broadly defined, complex, diverse, & occasionally, unprecedented.
+ Show leadership experience in building and sustaining relationships in partnership and expertise in leading the relevant functional areas.
**Scope of Job**
+ **Discretion/Latitude:** Complex job responsibilities with established standard procedures. Duties included major decision-making. Proposals with strategic impact created and implemented.

The hiring range for this position is $94,320 to $146,500 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
