Job Description
As a cornerstone of our global Olympus Strategy, we will provide a connected and integrated Intelligent Endoscopy Ecosystem, leveraging the power of data and AI to improve clinical outcomes and efficiency. Transitioning from providing individual products and services to comprehensive clinical and non-clinical solutions requires a solid data strategy and a strong data governance framework across internal and external data. Data plays a crucial role in integrating and improving (digital and physical) products and capitalizing / commercializing the value of data is a key lever for the success of our future business model while adhering to regulatory and legal requirements needs to be ensured.
The Global Head of Medical Data Office drives the development and continuous adoption of the end-to-end data strategy and capitalization and establishes and drives a data governance structure incorporating all relevant internal (e.g. Business Units, R&D, IT, data privacy, data security, legal, MSA. finance) as well as external stakeholders (e.g. customers, external partners, authorities) in line with the overall ESE developments and roadmap.
The initial setup of the new standing organization includes 3-5 global, directly allocated FTE, however, will require leading and managing large scale virtual, non-permanent teams across businesses and functions on global, regional and local level. Permanent structures are being established successively across the globe.
Job Duties Develop and regularly review end-to-end data strategy, enabling short-term solution delivery, go-to-market and support as well as providing long-term vision in line with the overall ESE solution roadmap. Optimize data capabilities and resources by managing budgeting and financials, forecasting investment needs, establishing performance metrics, and chairing decision-making bodies. Develop / maintain comprehensive data architecture for collecting, processing, analyzing and applying medical, technical, processual and commercial data from all connected applications and internal (e.g. devices) and external (e.g. hospital information systems) data sources, derive tech. platform requirements. Identify strategic commercialization / capitalization opportunities related to data & data analytics that can be leveraged to develop the solution-based business model further, evaluate implementation feasibility. Accountability for budgets and costs across all MDO related activities and spending and estimate future investment needs and own business cases. Build up and lead a globally scalable organization (skills, resources, structures) to implement the short / mid / long term data strategy incl. its operational, technical, cultural and control capabilities. Establish and drive global data ownership, data governance and data quality policies and framework incorporating all relevant internal (e.g. BUs, R&D, IT, data privacy, data security, legal, compliance, MSA, finance, sales regions) as well as external (e.g. customers, external partners, authorities) stakeholders. Manage and guide internal and external senior and operational stakeholders globally, regionally & locally. Accountability for all main capabilities and their delivery across strategy, governance, architecture, and operations and setting of clear performance measurement metrics. Chairing all decision bodies of the MDO. Review and acceptance of new use cases (performing impact assessment with key stakeholders). Accountable for ensuring, that everybody is properly trained on handling medical data. Job QualificationsRequired:
University degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Business Information Systems, or similar academic background. Several years’ experience in Healthcare/MedTech and/or strategy consulting firms, both in a multinational/global context. Minimum of 15 years of professional experience in either MedTech/Pharma or Consulting with a strong focus on strategy and data management.
Preferred:
Proven track record of successfully leading complex business transformation programs on a large/global scale. Profound professional experience in project management, including working with multiple stakeholders on different organizational levels. Extensive experience in working in an intercultural context (EMEA and globally, in particular with Japanese companies). Strategic mindset with the ability to turn strategic thinking and concepts into tangible results that create value. Strong motivation to drive the business transformation across the organization to consistently achieve results, even under tough circumstances. Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing end-to-end strategies within complex organizational structures. Proven track record in leading and managing large-scale virtual, non-permanent teams across global, regional, and local levels.
