Responsibilities

We have an opportunity for an AVP, Property Claims Manager to join our Berkley One team! This role is a key contributor to our Berkley One brand, responsible for holding staff and independent adjusters accountable for quality handling and resolution of property claims including complex, high exposure claims in a timely, professional manner with emphasis on providing quality service.  

 

This position can be based in our offices in either: Wilmington, DE or Morristown, NJ

Key functions include but are not limited to:

Pro-actively manage the team members' claims inventory to comply with key performance metricsEnsure that Adjusters deliver exceptional customer service to meet the needs of the insured, agent and all internal and external customersPerform administrative functions such as performance reviews and time off reportingAssist with the training of internal and external adjusters on Berkley One best practices and processesAppropriately assign first party claimsIdentify and address coverage issuesApprove reserves in excess of Adjuster authorityManage catastrophe response managementReview and approve Denial and Reservation of Rights lettersEstablish strong relationships within the broker community to promote our brandCollaborate with other parts of the organization including Sales, Marketing, Underwriting, Risk Management, ActuarialPerform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience5+ years of leadership experience handling property insurance claims with an emphasis on working with High Net Worth customers (preferred) and experience with automated claims systemsBroad knowledge of construction, estimating and estimating systems, Symbility preferredAbility to manage preferred vendors in order to drive continuous quality improvementUnderstanding of the needs of customers, both insureds and their agents alike; you will be an excellent, pro-active advocate for Berkley One customers and are passionate about their brand experienceExceptional oral and written communication skills; your communication style is flexible to the situation; you communicate clearly and with a purposeCalm under pressure; you have excellent administrative and organizational skills, integrity, and great follow-through on tasks; you are comfortable challenging norms while working collaboratively with colleagues at all levels of the organizationYou have a strong sense of accountability, fun and adventureNatural curiosity; you love learning how things work and you are always looking for innovative improvements Additional Company Details We do not accept any unsolicited resumes from external recruiting firms.
