In this position, you’ll lead Protective Services operations across all Nationwide owned and leased locations, ensuring the safety of over 20,000 associates, contractors, and visitors. Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Security Management - Develop and execute a strategic vision for protective services that aligns with corporate objectives to protect associates, facilities, and assets. Manage day-to-day protective services operations, including physical security measures, access control, surveillance systems, and incident response. Conduct regular security assessments and audits to mitigate risk, identify vulnerabilities and implement corrective actions.
Executive Protection - Manage programs to ensure the safety of executives, board members, high-profile personnel, and their families, as needed. Mitigates risks associated with executive’s public visibility, travel, and operational responsibilities, safeguarding both individuals and the organization’s reputation.
Safety Services - Oversee the development and implementation of workplace safety policies and procedures. Lead safety training programs for associates, ensuring awareness of safety protocols and emergency response procedures. Collaborate with HR, legal and business leadership to address associate concerns related to safety and security.
Crisis Management - Develop and maintain emergency response plans for various scenarios, including natural disasters, workplace violence, and threats to facilities. Coordinate drills and training exercises to ensure preparedness among staff and security officers. Serve as the primary point of contact for all protective service-related incidents, working with law enforcement and emergency services as needed.
Reporting – Investigating workplace accidents or near misses to identify causes and recommend preventive measures. Oversee the logging of detailed records of safety incidents and training, and preparation of reports for leadership and/or regulatory bodies.
Compliance - Ensure compliance with all occupational health and safety regulations, relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. Conduct regular audits and inspections to assess the effectiveness of security measures.
Team Leadership - Recruit, train, and manage a high-performing protective services team across all locations. Foster a culture of safety and security within the organization, promoting collaboration and communication. Provide regular reports to executive leadership on security metrics, incidents, and ongoing initiatives.
Stakeholder Engagement - Partner with local government, business leaders, law enforcement and emergency response agencies to build relationships and enhance protective services measures. Provide counsel on matters that influence the safety of our surrounding properties in the cities where Nationwide resides. Engage with internal departments to ensure alignment on safety and security policies and procedures.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to SVP, Chief Information Security Officer. Leads a team of approximately 150 (direct and indirect) protective services professionals.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Certifications: Professional certifications (e.g., CPP, PSP, or similar) are a plus.
Experience: Typically, 10 or more years of experience in security management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a corporate environment.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Strong knowledge of security technologies, emergency response, risk management, and regulatory compliance. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels. Proven ability to lead and motivate a diverse team, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Working Conditions: This position requires flexibility in working hours, as it supports a 24-hour operation. The role may involve occasional visibility during non-traditional shifts to ensure comprehensive protective services oversight. Additionally, travel between locations and for investigations, training or meetings may be required.
