Who You’ll Work With:
We are looking for a tenured Vice President within our Alternatives Product Strategy & Development (PS&D) team. Our team manages the product development lifecycle and plays a critical role in creating, structuring, and delivering innovative alternative investment strategies (public and private) to global investors across all channels (including retail, institutional, insurance and Bernstein private wealth). This individual will be a key leader in driving the growth of this vital alternatives effort globally and across channel, by having a deep expertise on the current landscape and translating this knowledge to design and implement competitive, new alternatives products able to expand distribution capabilities on a global level. This person will partner cross functionally and worldwide within the client group, and with investment, distribution, marketing, legal, compliance, and business operations teams, including senior leadership and executive stakeholders.
What You’ll Do:
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead cross-functional activities related to the design and launch of new alternative investment products, strategies and channels
Oversee and execute cross-functional activities spanning the product launch lifecycle including product design, development, pricing, approval, go-to-market preparedness, and post-launch operational readiness and related infrastructure build-out.
Partner with investment teams, Legal and tax counsel to define structuring for private and registered products (covering closed-end, open-end and evergreen structures) and act a subject matter expert within the firm on key structuring concepts
Lead efforts with business and investment team leaders to prepare the product development “new product assessment”, helping to negotiate and rationalize product objectives and terms across a diverse set of opinions via data-driven decisioning
Conduct new product financial analyses providing insight into revenue and expense projections and overall profitability
Collaborate with key stakeholders across distribution, product strategy and development, portfolio management, marketing, legal, technology, business operations and compliance to bring alternatives strategies to market that continuously meet evolving client needs
Manage alternative product pipeline content and meet with internal stakeholders to communicate new product pipeline activities.
Own the assessment of the competitive environment and market trends, staying abreast and relevant as it relates to competitive launches and evolving regulatory changes, analyzing weaknesses or gaps and new product opportunities to ensure AB’s product line-up is well positioned for future growth and continuously evaluating existing product platform for future potential
Be a subject matter expert for the firm on the AB Alternatives platform, distribution markets and channels, and the impact of local regulations; leverage knowledge to support innovation
Partner with cross functional teams to assist in product positioning and to increase the adoption of alternative investments. Partner with distribution organization, investment teams and business development in formulating capital raising strategies and messaging for first time funds and new strategies.
What We’re Looking For:
The ideal candidate should have:
Minimum of 7 - 15 years of professional experience with at least 3-5 years of experience at an asset management / alternative asset management firm in a product development/management or strategy function; strategy consulting firm; or investment bank
Comprehensive understanding of alternative asset classes and global financial structures across private and registered funds coupled with a reputation for being a collaborative team player who works effectively across an organization (Legal/Marketing/Finance/Distribution/Technology/Investments)
Solid understanding of the capital markets and a deep knowledge of alternatives with a proven ability to convey complex concepts/ideas in a persuasive and content-oriented manner. Superior communication and presentation skills are a must.
Possess excellent knowledge of alternative investment strategies with a deep understanding of the operational and regulatory needs of various investor types (institutional, insurance, private wealth, retail).
Knowledge of the institutional, retail and insurance marketplace: understanding client needs, market trends, competitive landscape, fintech and primary service providers, and client operational and regulatory needs
Broad investment management and financial market knowledge across asset classes
Strong academic credentials. An advanced degree such as an MBA or Law Degree with a CFA/CAIA designation highly desired.
FINRA Series 6, 7, 63 preferred
Reputation for being a collaborative and diplomatic team player with a proven ability to work effectively with internal and external business partners.
