Purpose:
Reporting to SVP, CFO Bermuda, this position is responsible for all financial reporting (US GAAP and Bermuda Regulatory) for all Athene Bermuda entities. The role is also responsible for leading Bermuda systems and control initiatives.
Accountabilities:
+ Lead a team of accounting professionals, with responsibility for all GAAP and regulatory financial reporting for Athene Bermuda legal entities, including Athene’s investment sidecar vehicles
+ Ensure compliance with accounting policies and manage annual audits for all Bermuda entities
+ Work with Group Finance teams to implement a strategic Finance Transformation vision to automate and streamline GAAP, Bermuda Statutory and EBS financial reporting and operational processes
+ Develop processes and controls to support reporting for several Bermuda legal entities on multiple accounting bases
+ Work cross-functionally with Actuarial, Investment Accounting, Risk and other parts of Finance, including Group Finance team, to lead close process for Bermuda entities and support Group 10-K/Q reporting
+ Provide timely and accurate financial reporting and analysis to executive management
+ Oversee the onboarding of all financial reporting aspects of new complex transactions
Qualifications and Experience:
+ Professional accounting qualification (CA, CPA or equivalent) with a minimum of 10 years’ US GAAP/Regulatory reporting experience in the (re)insurance industry and 5+ years’ management experience
+ Demonstrated knowledge of Bermuda insurance regulatory reporting requirements
+ Proven leadership skills and demonstrated success at managing large teams of qualified accountants
+ Strong communication skills, written and oral, with ability to influence at Executive level
+ Demonstrated ability to successfully implement large Finance Transformation projects
+ Experience with onboarding all financial reporting aspects of large and complex third party reinsurance transactions
+ Proven experience in driving changes in process and controls framework
