Walsh is currently seeking a Vice President of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) for our Transportation Division. The location of this position can be Chicago, Atlanta, or Dallas.
The Director of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) represents the company as an industry expert. This individual will participate in national and regional industry committees, or similar types of meetings/conferences in support of company and business objectives.
This position oversees all aspects of health, safety and environmental (HSE) programs for a large segment of the company to ensure compliance with and implementation of health, safety and environmental programs, policies and procedures that adhere to corporate specifications.

Develops and implements a unified strategy across all regions in the Transportation Division to ensure consistent practices, standards and policies.
Monitors and evaluates the performance of HSE teams in each region, providing guidance to Sr Directors and ensuring alignment with company expectations.
Leads initiatives to identify and mitigate high risk activities, focusing on reducing Injury frequency and severity.
Develops and promotes a culture of proactive safety management and accountability at all organizational levels.
Works with Divisional Leadership to identify and integrate division specific HSE goals into annual business planning. Ensure and track measurable progress on divisional goals.
Participates in the adoption of technology to enhance the safety of the division.
Qualifications Minimum 15 years of experience, with the majority of the experience on major transportation and heavy civil construction projectsBachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Health, Safety, Environmental or related discipline
CSP (Certified Safety Professional) through BCSP requiredStrong interpersonal skills and with experience presenting to ownership and operational entitiesExperience developing safety programs, creating performance objectives, creating a business plan/budget, and completing personnel recruiting/reviewsTravel is required 20-40% of the time to visit business groups, regional offices, and projects
Must be physically able to perform the duties of the position within the complex nature of large scale commercial construction
