SUMMARY:
The VP, Medical Affairs Neuro-rare, will serve as the most senior internal medical and scientific expert for US Neuro-rare Business Unit and assigned portfolio of Neuro-rare product(s), developing, and driving key medical strategies and tactics which align with respective brand strategies. The VP MA Neuro-rare will lead, manage, coach, and develop Medical Affairs Neuro-rare Team, including home office and field medical, and oversee the medical affairs strategy and plans execution and effective allocation of personnel and financial resources to support overall Lundbeck US Medical Affairs objectives across Neuro-rare therapeutic area. The VP MA Neuro-rare will be accountable for building and growing strong partnerships with external stakeholders, including HCPs, Patient Advocacy Groups, Payers and Policy makers, as well as ensure accurate, robust and appropriate medical/scientific and clinical expertise with all internal stakeholders in the therapeutic area, being the internal medical/scientific point-person for all other groups (Medical Strategy Teams, Brand Teams, Global Project Teams, etc.) necessary to reach enterprise objectives and goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
As a member of Neuro-rare BU Leadership Team, help develop a cross-functional team to ensure strategic alignment and adequate resource planning for Neuro-rare BU objectives and goals. As the lead of Medical Affairs Neuro-rare Team, the VP develops and drives medical strategies and oversees implementation and execution of key medical initiatives aligned with the brand strategies in the Neuro-rare therapeutic area. Provides US scientific and strategic input to the Neuro-rare Global Project Teams. Develops the strategic and personnel plan for Neuro-rare US Medical Affairs Establishes, leads, manages, coaches, and develops the Neuro-rare Medical Affairs team to support high performance, and to align with strategic direction for Lundbeck, as well as anticipates personnel future training needs, leads talent development and resource planning. Participates in brand planning and budgetary processes as part of annual business planning and ownership of cost center for US Medical Affairs Neuro-rare Partners closely and provides subject matter expertise with global medical affairs to develop and drive strategic planning Leads US Evidence generation planning, including US Phase IV and IIT strategy planning and provides US strategic input to the Lundbeck Neuro-rare products LCM plans based on the clinical and scientific knowledge and expertise and can develop a strong network in the US medical community within the therapeutic areas of focus for Lundbeck. Accountable for establishing, maintaining, and further developing partnerships and network with key opinion leaders and patient advocacy groups in the therapeutic areas of focus for Lundbeck. Reviews business development opportunities, translating business needs to clinically relevant development strategies that provide a competitive advantage. Accountable for medical content input into Promotional Advertising Review Committee for all promotional and external materials, and participation in Labeling meetings, where appropriate, with sign-off authorization. Ensures all Medical Affairs Neuro-rare team activities are following ICH and other international regulatory guidelines and follow relevant GCPs and SOPs.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS:
Accredited MD, DO, PharmD or PhD 10+ years of experience which may include a combination of progressive medical/scientific affairs experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or related industry and relevant clinical or academia experience within CNS 5+ years of people leadership experience Expertise in establishing effective collaborations with external healthcare providers/scientists, patient advocacy groups, payers and policy makers Demonstrated strategic leadership with the ability to partner with commercial cross functional team to develop, execute and deliver on strategic brand plans to meet business objectives Prior leadership experience, embodying a coaching mindset and demonstrated capability to envision, influence, and implement change to build a high performing team Strong scientific analytical skills, excellent planning, organization, and proactive problem-solving capabilities, including prioritization of resource allocation to achieve greatest impact Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively present complex medical/scientific concepts Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality and integrity, representing the company’s high ethics, moral behavior, and professionalism Intimate knowledge of Regulatory/FDA requirements, as well as medical affairs compliance standards
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Experience within brain diseases therapeutic areas, with Neurology and rare diseases Professional society membership(s) relevant to Neuro-rare Established relationships with relevant KOL community in Developmental Epileptic Encephalopathies and or Movement Disorders
TRAVEL
Willingness/Ability to travel up to 30% domestically. International travel may be required.
The range displayed is a national range, and if selected for this role, may vary based on various factors such as the candidate’s geographical location, qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Salary Pay Range: $300,000 - $350,000 and eligibility for a 3.5% bonus target based on company and individual performance, and eligibility to participate in the company’s long-term incentive plan.
