The role: VP of Operations
Location: Burnaby, BC (Hybrid – In-office a few times a week)
Are you a seasoned leader in the travel industry with a proven track record of operational excellence and team mentorship? Our client, a well-established, boutique independent travel agency in Burnaby, BC, is seeking a Vice President of Operations to manage and grow the business.
This is a unique opportunity to step into a senior leadership role, overseeing a team of 27 independent travel consultants while driving operational success. The position offers the potential for a gradual transition to ownership within 2–5 years with a small investment.
About the Role: As the VP of Operations, your key responsibilities will include:
Overseeing daily business operations, including reporting, accounting, payroll, licensing, and processing bookings. Providing guidance and support to a team of 27 independent consultants across Canada. Conducting one-on-one meetings to address challenges and foster individual success. Identifying and recruiting new independent consultants to grow the team. Collaborating with the office manager to maintain smooth day-to-day operations. Experience required:
10–20 years in the travel industry, with expertise in leisure travel (preferably FIT). Proven leadership and management skills, including mentoring and supporting teams. Solid understanding of business operations, such as reporting, payroll, and licensing. Compensation & Benefits:
Base salary + uncapped bonus structure Base salary: $6,000/month with a $500/month increase after six months, based on strong performance. First-year on-target earnings: $102,000–$117,000. Second-year on-target earnings: $130,000+ (uncapped potential). Medical and dental coverage. Vacation allowance (to be confirmed).
