VP of Technical Accounting & ESG Controller

The VP of Technical Accounting and ESG Controller plays a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely external reporting processes including Form 10-K, 10-Q, Proxy statement, statutory and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) reporting in accordance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as well as leading Revenue Operations. This role will research and analyze complex accounting issues and ESG disclosure requirements and also collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather relevant information and prepare technical accounting memos or whitepapers to document the company's position on specific matters.
 

What You’ll Do

Oversee the preparation and filing of all SEC reports, such as 10-Ks, 10-Qs, and 8-Ks, ensuring compliance with all disclosure requirements and deadlines

Work with the Workiva Sustainability Officer to lead the development and implementation of ESG reporting strategies and initiatives including investor/customer reporting (MSCI, EcoVadis, Sustanalaytics, ISS)

Lead the technical accounting function, providing guidance on complex accounting issues, and ensuring adherence to US GAAP and SEC regulations

Responsible for the day to day of the ESG data management

Responsible for financial due diligence, valuations, policy convergence, accounting and reporting of M&A transactions

Lead the Revenue Operations team including process improvements and automation

Lead, coach and develop a team of accounting professionals

Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, external auditors, sustainability, and sales operations to ensure accurate and complete financial statements and disclosures

Monitor changes in accounting standards and SEC regulations, and proactively assess their impact on the organization's financial reporting

Enhance and maintain internal controls and processes to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information

Provide technical accounting expertise and guidance to support business initiatives, such as mergers and acquisitions, revenue recognition, lease accounting, and any other areas that require interpretation of the technical accounting guidance

Provide guidance to Accounting & Revenue Operations, Tax, Treasury, Legal and Product departments on complex accounting issues and ensure compliance with GAAP and SEC regulations

What You’ll Need

Minimum Qualifications

CPA required

B.A./B.S. degree in accounting

15+ years of experience in technical accounting, SEC reporting, and/or public accounting

In-depth knowledge of US GAAP, SEC regulations, and ESG frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD)

Extensive experiences in ASC 606 - Revenue from Contracts with Customers, ASC 350-40 - Intangibles - Goodwill and Other, ASC 805, Business Combinations, ASC718 - Compensation (Stock Compensation), Topic 280 - Segment Reporting

Preferred Qualifications

10+ years of direct people management experience, including leading Directors and Managers

8+ years of experience in public accounting

Experience in the ESG disclosures on an annual impact report

Workiva platform experience

Experience in Revenue Operations and SFDC/CPQ

Experience in SaaS companies

Strong business acumen, understanding of organization functions, processes, and systems

Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills

Strong analytical thinking skills with the ability to extract information and drive solutions

Travel Requirements and Working Conditions

Minimal travel required

Reliable internet access for remote work

How You’ll Be Rewarded

✅ Salary range in the US: $245,000.00 - $309,000.00

✅ A discretionary bonus typically paid annually

✅ Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire

✅ 401(k) match and comprehensive employee benefits package
