Summary:
As a member of the Hospital's Senior Management Team, responsible for the day-to-day operations of Norwalk Hospital, Network responsibilities for select clinical service lines, and reporting to the Network's Chief Operating Officer, the VP, Operations will be responsible for the collaborative development and implementation of the Network's operating plans. Responsible and accountable for managing the cost, quality and service delivery within the Norwalk Hospital operations and across select Network clinical service lines. Develops and communicates operational and business plans consistent with the Network's mission and vision. Provides an atmosphere conducive to team development and professional growth for associates within Norwalk Hospital and across the network's clinical service lines and operations departments. Demonstrates and promotes corporate values, service excellence behaviors and a continuous improvement approach.
Responsibilities:
1. Accountable for Norwalk Hospital's operations and select Network Service Lines with an emphasis on performance improvement, productivity and bottom-line results. Directs and oversees operational integration and coordination of systems and service .
2. In collaboration with other VP of Operations, Physician Leaders, and Nursing Leaders across the Network, develops and executes an operational structure across select Network clinical service lines that fosters Network integration, promotes Network efficiency
3. As part of the Senior Executive Team, collaborates with peers to develop strategy, operation policies, business plans, and capital allocation plans for the Norwalk Hospital and select clinical service lines.
4. Using LEAN and Six-Sigma Methodologies, directs programs and initiatives focusing on improving operational processes and efficiency, increase revenues, and reduce costs in order to enhance the competitive position and profitability of the Norwalk Hospital
5. Serves as Senior Operations Leader in developing, overseeing, and approving strategic goals and objectives, operating and capital budget planning, physician and staff recruitment, and resource assignment for select clinical service lines.
6. Serves as the key operations management leader for Norwalk Hospital to ensure that strategic priorities are clearly articulated and well understood throughout the Hospital and select clinical service lines, and that all departments demonstrate an understands
7. Works in partnership with the Chairpersons, Chiefs, Nursing and the Network's COO to develop and implement service line programs.
8. Establishes effective relationships and open dialogue with the medical staff, partnering with Chairmen and their staffs to craft strategies and plans to support the needs of the academic medical community and ensure that key service-line programs are developed
9. In partnership with the Planning Department, directs the creation and deployment of business development strategies for areas of responsibility for the Network. Establishes accountability for assuring that growth targets are achieved.
10. Directs the analysis of competitive market data and identifies opportunities for growth within the Network's traditional and expanded markets.
11. Serves as a representative for the health system to key community stakeholders, including Board Members, community sources of philanthropy and support, and other community leaders.
12. Partners with Chief Medical Officer, Quality Improvement Officer, and Nursing Directors to drive operational and clinical quality improvement initiatives for the organization. Collaborates with Nursing Leadership to ensure the highest quality of service
13. Provides direction and coaching to the Directors who directly manage services across the Network.
14. Recruits, hires, terminates and disciplines health system staff in areas of oversight. Participates in recruitment and interviewing of senior administrative and physician team members. Develops matrixed reporting and PEP processes with Nursing Directors
15. Leads Human Resource initiatives associated with establishing a work environment that fosters employee development, promotes self-directed teams and improves communication processes.
16. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
17. Performs other duties as assigned.
