VP Risk and Compliance Assurance

Compliance Assurance Generalist roles act as an independent Second Line of Defence (2LOD) function that undertakes risk-based monitoring and testing of processes and outcomes of First Line of Defence (1LOD) Compliance activities to provide assurance that the business is operating in line with relevant laws, regulations, principles, and HSBC Group standards and policies and to ensure that HSBC maintains effective compliance controls. They also perform deep-dive and thematic reviews on issues, opportunities and/or strategic change.

As our VP Risk and Compliance Assurance you will:

Utilice SME knowledge in the compliance risk environment to support the business by identifying potential compliance issues stemming from the Bank’s business activities Support the design and maintenance of the monitoring methodology, standards, processes and procedures (and training thereof) for the Global RC Monitoring and Testing function and overseeing the use of effective tools and technologProvide risk response capability to address emerging and ad hoc high risk events, global thematic risk priorities and supporting regional teams by helping complete MT work, in order to meet internal and regulatory expectationsWork closely with dedicated automation and analytics specialists within the function, to help develop forensic testing and analyze large data sets within assurance reviewsCarry out thorough preparation and high-quality reviews of First Line of Defence (1LoD) controlsFoster a close working relationship with key stakeholders, including the Compliance teams, Monitoring Teams, COOs and other senior management in the business, including keeping abreast of key business, regulatory and industry developments and any changes to procedures and practicesContribute to the overall maintenance of compliance risk assessments through review work, drawing on the experience and knowledge of the RC team and with the active participation of senior managers in the BusinessContribute to the preparation of monitoring plans and reviews for applicable business lines in sitesContributie to the preparation of consolidated MI on the results of monitoring for senior managers in the BusinessContributie to the provision of education and support to monitoring specialists in risk assessments, planning and conducting reviews

For this role, HSBC targets a pay range between $150,000.00 and $200,000.00

The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

Working knowledge or experience with the capital markets compliance rules and regulationsKnowledge of US banking and securities businesses, products, operations, systems and organizationUnderstanding of all significant regulatory compliance requirements applicable to the businessesSwap Dealer and Broker Dealer compliance control testing experienceStrong managerial, interpersonal, communications, analytical, organizational, project management and planning skillsMinimum of five to eight years proven and progressive financial services audit, operations, and/or compliance experience or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, related field or equivalent experience. Master’s degree preferred.
