POSITION OVERVIEW

At Urban Resource Institute (URI), our success depends on our people, productivity, and procedures. The Director for Safety and Security is responsible for strategic planning, organizing, implementing, managing, and taking initiatives to ensure a safe, and accident-free environment for all employees. Their position requires: performing safety audits, conducting safety training sessions, and creating initiatives to reduce and prevent accidents & incidents on site, identification of opportunities for improvement across all operation and approving all scope of work and proposal to ensure work is following approved safety practices. Secondary Responsibility Manages, supervises, trains, and develops the Safety & Security Coordinator, Security Monitors and the contracted security staff.

Salary: $150,000 - 160,000

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop SOP manual for Security Operations and train all security personnel. Responsible for monitoring the safety and security operations for the organization. Perform security survey of all URI sites including corporate HQ and satellite offices. Perform feasibility study and cost analysis to establish central command and control; Maintain and implement safety and security policies and regulations to make sure the environment is safe for employees, clients, and visitors. Participate in all investigations involving all safety, security, and risk management related issues. Maintain and update security plans, emergency plans, and policies and procedures, in accordance with best practices and ensure their implementation. Review site structure, supervisory roles and responsibilities Leads Quarterly Safety & Security Agency Wide Meetings and monthly Site Safety Meetings. Supervises and develops the Safety & Security Coordinator and the Security Monitors in facilities to support the department’s businesses. Conducts monthly safety audits and reports on findings in monthly site safety meetings. Oversee and enforce compliance with all OSHA, and other regulatory agencies while maintaining awareness of regulatory changes that could impact the company. Self-motivated, can self-assess, takes initiative, and demonstrates personal accountability. Communicates with clarity, timely and effectively; is flexible and open minded. Excellent communication skills, verbal, and written, for explaining security & safety concerns, policies, and training for staff, clients, consultants, volunteers and consistently applying them at all levels. Develop procedure for approving 3rd party security time sheets Maintain high level communication with outside security companies to ensure quality service and officers Conduct weekly facility visits, weekly meetings with security concierges.

Develop, facilitate and implement safety & security training, which includes:

Incident Reports, De-Escalation, Active Shooter, Fire Safety, Law Enforcement, Trespassing, OSHA, Key/Key Cards, Cameras Co-lead the Quarterly Safety & Security Committee and monthly facility meetings with Safety & Security Specialist. Analyze & Report data on incidents monthly, quarterly and annually. Oversee the contract with the security vendor for both the clinics and businesses. Establish a baseline for when the agency decides when extra security is needed and where. Monitors security conditions; liaise and coordinate with external agencies. Scenario planning, security plan development, crisis/contingency planning Analyze CCTV and keycard access needs and manage vendor relations. Demonstrate understanding of emergency and security concerns and appropriate responses to them.

SPECIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

Associate’s Degree preferred. 3 to 5 years leadership experience in a security or criminal justice role.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Experience in security or law enforcement, with a preference for candidates with supervisory experience. Possession of a valid NYS Security License. Certification as F-02 (Fire Guard for Shelters) is necessary. Certification as F-80 (Coordinator of Fire Safety and Alarm Systems in Homeless Shelters) is required. Current 8-hour and 16-hour certificates are mandatory. Preferred: T89 (Fire Life and Safety Director) certification. Clean, valid driver’s license. Excellent employee customer service skills and spirit of team orientation.
